I have never tried it, nor would i ever because people looking to buy domains wouldn't really go to ebay
Selling on eBay got harder, because they moved domains out of the computer services section. A lot of people haven't caught up with that yet. Overall, eBay is a tougher market than selling here. Good domains no sell way too often on eBay because buyers will try to wait until the last day to bid, and then forget to bid. eBay sniping, in general, hurts sellers a lot. I even watched a PR4 domain no sell on eBay with a start price of $10. On the other hand, a lot of eBay buyers are low information buyers. I've sold PR2 domains on eBay for what I get for PR3s here. In short, eBay is inconsistent and stupid. And the fees are outrageous -- 9% eBay and then add 2-3% MORE on PayPal. I only sell the stuff I can't get a single bid on here on eBay.
I frequently hear about domain owners’ attempts to reach out to potential end user buyers to let them know a domain name is for sale at auction. Most of the time, the auctions are run on proprietary auction platforms managed by auction companies. In my opinion, this can be a big barrier for companies that aren’t familiar with domain auctions or the auction houses. With tens of millions of accounts, Ebay is the most well known, and arguably most reliable online auction platform. They are trusted by buyers and sellers, and if a person hasn’t opened an account on Ebay, you can probably be sure they’ve heard of the company. In lieu of listing a domain name for sale on a live auction, you might consider listing it on Ebay before contacting potential buyers. Buyers might trust Ebay more, and they will have more time to make a decision. I have not tried this method out yet, but I will do so and let you know how it goes.
Yes, I sold CHELSEA.TV on ebay and also a .co.uk for some nice money Ebay is the best place to sell LLLL.com's people love them
Ya its a nice place to sell domains. But there are lots of inconsistencies. Its best if your auction ends between tuesday and thursday from 5 to 8 PDT. Most snipping happens then. So you have great chance to sell your names. But in general its full of expiring names. Though domainers do advertise names by putting high bin prices. This gets a few enquiries.
Selling on ebay is completely taking chances, you can sell your waste or useless domains there, but dont try with important and high Pr domains, because everyone wait for last moment to bid. thus you wont get anything fair there. Anyways, there are lot of chances that you may end up BUYING some good readymade domain with low charges.
I've tried it a few times. It seems to be difficult to get domain auctions noticed on ebay - make sure you're advertising the link to your auction elsewhere.
Ebay domain name section has no subcatagories! thats why sales are low. Please email them and suggest they add subcatagories. How else would an end user find a name?
