You can use tools like SEO Quake for FireFox to find out if a link is dofollow or not. There's an option to line-through links that are nofollow & noindex.
Nofollow doesn't pass on that sites ranking to you -- so it has no benefit in SERP. Go for dofollow :_)
You'll want dofollow if you want to rank in Google. Some search engines don't differentiate between the two. If you ask me, build them wherever you go if it's easy enough to add a link.
NOFollow nofollow is a HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place. The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content or preventing content to be indexed by search engines. The proper methods for blocking search engine spiders to access content on a website or for preventing them to include the content of a page in their index are the Robots Exclusion Standard (robots.txt) for blocking access and on page Meta Elements that are designed to specify on an individual page level, what search engine spider should or should not do with the content of the crawled page. DOFollow dofollow is a HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to increase the effectiveness of certain types of search engine.
the sad part is that this didn't happen. spammers will spam everything the nofollow the dofollow the maybefollow and all the follows programers might eventually create xD @5ky.com the sig file is dofollow. so dont worry, search engines will like get some link juice out if it
Somehow i'm not convinced about my sig. Can someone please check for me, as i'm rather confused. http://www.backlinkwatch.com/ Thanks for your help.
nofollow links still matter in the SERPS, just not much. It's the same as having a link from a site with PR: n/a
I am using opensiteexplorer to check links of my competitors. I see a top ranking site has most links from no follow domain. I think no follow do help in boosting ranks but valve out the PR flow.
Here are some more reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569
Dofollow is a link which will be count for SEO (Search engine optimization) if you build backlinks for SEO, you can get rank in high positions in search engines (serp). Nofollow will not count in SEO/SERP, it is just a simple backlinks.
dofollow is the term given to standard links which help with all search engine rankings. Nofollow is the term given to links wit the rel="nofollow" attribute; these links help with most search engines, just not google. Build primarily dofollow, but also some nofollow will help alot with SE's other than google.
