I tried it years ago and made nothing. Now I'm a little more seasoned and giving it another shot.

I haven't made anything yet, but I'm just getting my websites marketed. I do know that I'm about done with Clickbank, between their "policy" that allows them to steal your money if you haven't made any sales for a while, and the length of time it takes for them to send anything you have made. I turned them in to the Idaho BBB a while back and sent them several emails, so hopefully that will make them realize there are a lot of unhappy newbie marketers out here and get them motivated get their act together.

I've been looking at Mike Filsaime's PayDotCom.. does anybody here have any experience with his site? It's a CB competitor and has quite a number of products available, but I haven't promoted any as of yet.

I joined CJ in April and made $80 my first month. I was starting to suspect scraping, because I has sent nearly 500 visitors to my offer and no sales... But then one day, poof, there was a lead and my first affiliate sale. I was very stoked and now I'm addicted to seeing if I can do it again. :)

Hey Selfhelp - I signed up with PayDotCom and sent over 500 visitors and NADA. I was using PPV traffic, so it may just be that the type of traffic doesn't convert for this type of offer. I think the key to PPV is free and easy offers (i.e. lead generation). Otherwise, if you're trying to sell something directly from PPV, good luck. Ugh! If you have any success, let us know what type of traffic is converting, please. :)

Yeah, I agree, it takes a while to get going. I remember when I started out couple years ago, I had no clue, then I started to come back to the network and spent almost a year to learn and test different methods, now I am making steady income from it. I guess my effort is finally paid off. The potential is endless with affiliate marketing.

You're right about "too much manual work"! I think that is required to make a living in any kind of job.

Cj is a good platform but I am tired of their advertisers being activated and disactivated all the time. You basically sometimes have to stop your campaigns or else you will end up losing money. Although with some hard work and dedication making $3000-$5000 is very possible and that is really good money for most people and most can quit their jobs if they made that kind of money after the marketing expenses.

    Update:

I'm still averaging about 1 sale per 400-500 clicks to my CJ offer pages. Now I have $381 in my account from 5 sales. I loaded another $300 into my PPV account and am looking forward to seeing how this does. :) I earn roughly a dollar on top of every dollar of advertising I spend. I expect the $300 to turn into between $600-800.

Good to hear that you are making decent money with them. $1 per $1 is a very good ratio. You can basically scale up the campaigns and eventually make ton of money.

I haven't used CJ for years now. They have a very poor track record in my opinion. They KEEP your commissions if you don't earn a certain amount within a certain time period (I no longer know what the amounts are because - as I said - I no longer bother with them), which was very unfair to my coaching students who were just starting out.

The final straw for me was a few years ago when CJ stopped tracking affiliate commissions for a period of 3-4 months. Many of us seasoned affiliate marketers were purchasing products from our own sites to see if CJ tracked the sale back to us, and they did not. It took them over 2 months to admit there was a problem. So, basically, they got 3-4 months worth of EVERYONE's commissions.

In my opinion they are a greedy company that doesn't give a sh*t about their affiliates. All they want is to make as much money off your backs as possible.

There are a LOT of other BETTER companies out there (like shareasale and linkshare). I'd focus on promoting stuff for them instead.
