tedswoodworking.com - Clickbank Vendor gaming the system

A couple of days ago - I’ve setup an adwords campaign in order to promote tedswoodworking.com

After a couple of hundreds hops and not a single sale I realized that there is something “ wrong” with this website. When I researched this website deeper I found a sickening truth.

So here’s what it’s all about:
Try deleting the cookies and then click on the order page:
    http://www.tedswoodworking.com/order.php

Every time you do this you’ll see a new affiliate ID at the bottom of the page.
This vendor is stealing my affiliate commissions and artificially inflating his clickbank gravity.
    This made me sick!

TIP: Next time you pick a new clickbank vendor make sure you do the “cookies” test in your browser. If you don’t see the affiliate=[none] then something is wrong!

If you're not comfortable with his script then you shouldn't promote it, but it's not that uncommon. He's inflating the gravity, but it doesn't mean he's stealing from you. A lot of vendors that use that script will insert the ID of affiliates that are promoting the product. It boosts the gravity and helps out aff that are doing the promoting. If you don't like it, definitely move on. Saying a vendor is stealing is a pretty big accusation.

No he's not, he has a script so that when there is no aff id it replaces it with another affiliates. You just made no sales

I've never seen a clickbank vendor using this script. In my opinion this is unethical.

Practically he can inflate his gravity and reach the top 10 on Clickbank. This is just wrong! This vendor is misleading his affiliates! And you only have to say "If you're not comfortable with his script then you shouldn't promote it"

PS: If it's not that uncommon, who else is using this script??? I would like to know!

So you're saying its unethical for a vendor to replace a blank id with an actual affiliate, how exaclty? so instead of the vendor getting 100% of profits he only gets 25% (or whatever the aff commission is) what a selfish bastard!

Just move on if you're that bothered about it

There are vendors on this board that come out and tell you at launch. Look up NCMedias cupid cure. Used script at launch. Same thing with rpt's 30daywealth. "move on" wasn't the only thing I had to say. It was the only NICE thing I had to say.

Want something else: You're going to fail because you're a fucking cry baby that doesn't understand how IM works. You will continue to look for excuses and quit because you think it's all rigged against you. I have more to say, but it's not very nice. So I won't.

that wasn't very nice from you, anyway... I'll be contacting clickbank to hear what they have to say about this. I'll keep you informed.

What are you going to say to them? This vendor is generously giving his affiliates commission when there is no affiliate id set. If there is no affiliate id set he is not hurting anyone so get over it. As long as you get credit for what you send who cares.

Michael789, it would be unethical if the vendor was using his own affiliate ID after cookies were cleared. As it stands, the vendor is using a batch of affiliate IDs who have sent traffic to the site - your affiliate ID may be included in the random ID script.

There are some vendors who use a script to help boost their gravity and get it noticed. It means the vendor is making less money in total as they only receive 25% rather than 100%. However, if the product converts it will increase the gravity and (in theory), more people will promote it. So... in the short term the product vendor takes a hit to income to boost gravity and reward early adopters who promote the product. In the longer term, the vendor may stop using the script whenever the gravity reaches a certain threshold.

The product would still need to convert to maintain the gravity or to increase the gravity. Affiliates do not lose out when vendors use this type of script - IF it is used the right way.

In summary of what everyone has posted...
He is NOT stealing from you.

If you sent a few hundred hops with no conversions, then it is most likely...
    a) the page copy does not do a good job of making the sale.
    b) you are not sending the correct people to the product.

    I'm using this script.

    Proudly too: http://workstationoptimizer.com/affiliates.php

and yes you said it "Clear your cookies" < Which means anytime someone THAT HAS NOT BEEN COOKIED YET comes directly to the site, will be served with the aff ID's I place in my rotator.

Luckily I have 30 other programs and tons of affiliates, and I reward my good affiliates by putting them in all my scripts like this, so if someone comes directly, one of my usual guys gets the sale instead of me the vendor. . .. .. . Although this script may seem wonky or hard to get around due to what you don't know/how you perceive it - don't clusterfuck everyone in the same boat.

Sorry but I agree you just haven't converted, that guys site is fine and has no leaks.

PS - You can inflate your gravity all you want, if your affiliates don't pick it up and or if it doesn't convert naturally, it will just come crashing down again anyway unless you always inflate it yourself/spend/buy your own shit with other ID's which is silly to gain a few grav...

Michael, you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Just as previously mentioned (and you proved it when you said you must clear your cookies to see it) the vendor is giving any of his own sales to affiliates, but not affecting or stealing any commissions from affiliates who are actually promoting his product. So just because you are not making sales, don't go blaming and discrediting this vendor, you just aren't making any sales.

You need to listen to what the people on here are telling you.

There was no need for this stupid comment. Just refrain yourself and just don't post here please if you don't have anything to say.

I don't see any rotator script on his affiliate center, so my final conclusion(despite all your comments) is that he's just artificially inflating his CB gravity. (using his own aff. links)

sometimes in life, there comes a time when you just have to knuckle down and accept that you're wrong. michael789, this is the time unfortunately. but take it the right way and learn from it. you may decide to be a vendor in future and this would be a great tool to have to increase your gravity and keep affiliates happy.
