Will this $1.17 GoDaddy domain strategy work?

I saw this posted on a blog. Do you think this will work -- I mean the advise to CREATE another GoDaddy account. I don't know if this will work using another email address but SAME Paypal account...

    Any idea on this, guys?

"Were you looking for a cheap Godaddy coupon code? Are you searching for a Godaddy coupon code to allow you to register a new cheap .COM domain just for $0.99 (less than $1)? If yes, then here is a coupon code that you can use on Godaddy to register a new .COM domain for $0.99 only. The only limitation is that this coupon code can be used only once in every account, so if you want to register more than one domain name , create different Godaddy accounts, register domains using the coupon code and then transfer all the domains to your main account for free.

The coupon gets you a brand new .COM domain name just for $0.99, but it will cost you $1.17 after adding taxes. Not bad!

Simply complete all the domain registration steps and enter “BUY2010” in the “Enter your promo or source code” filed while checking out."

don't they require credit card now (even if you are paying with paypal) and that credit card has to be different from any other GD account?

Well I guess that does get you a cheap name for the first year. But having transferred them all to your proper account after you have used your coupon on all your other accounts - you will be renewing them thereafter at the normal price. Is it really worth all the mucking around to save a couple of dollars in the first year?

I suppose it would be if you were in the domain flipping business and had intentions to sell the site/domain before the year was up. That's a lot of account creations which means time which means money though.

Creating a new account and bothering to look for a credit card that I haven't used yet will take, let's say, round numbers ~15 minutes. I may save $5, yes - but I would miss an opportunity. I'd rather write an article in those 15 minutes, make double or triple that amount, and then pay the regular $6.99 with a plain coupon that will work unlimited number of times on the same account. I write articles to make money, you could be doing something else - but you get the idea.

    Best Regards,
    vip-ip.

I fully agree! However, this is but a marketing gimmick to attract the eyes of customers.

    Yeah, it's true.
they do accept credit card payment for $0.99 domain, and each CC can be used once only. common sense.

I was able to get a $1.99 domain name when I bought the $6.99 deluxe hosting with them :)

On another note... after 5 days I know their hosting is bad and I plan to switch

At least you can get a .com for really cheap, & if you added a .info to your basket as well, it got you the .info for 18 cents on top of that. I ain't complaining!

I hate Godaddy, but made use of this offer many days ago.

The $6.99 fee is for transferring a domain from another registrar to Godaddy.

It's a nice price, I'm not complaining to transfer my domains that are up for renewal. Have done about one a month this year.
