From my experience those adsense TEXT LINK ads pay little and are not worth it.

I added a channel with a well placed text links only ad and I had channels for my 336 box with txt and image.

So I had a high clicks and my earnings was only $11 dollars.

I checked the channels and the well placed text link ads placed few spots above the title got 289 clicks for only $2.18. I am guessing some of the clicks were 1 cents?

My 336 in article image and txt box got only 50 clicks but $8.82.

So basically those text link ads pay very poorly and I wouldn't even bother putting them up unless you have a super high paying niche were you can get at least 25 cents a click from them, otherwise they seem to only pay 1 to 3 cents per click.

While the text and image ads pay way more.

 

are you talking about adlink ? Or about a small adsense ad with only text ads, not graphic ads?

 

I cant link here but they were the LINK UNIT's only, those text only no descriptions.

 

Yes, the problem with adlink (the link units) is that Ads by Google is written first, before the links/words in any size format you can choose.
With adsense ads you have formats such as 336x280 and 720x90 which present the ads first and the ads by google after.

But the additional revenu of adlinks is interesting enough to add all of the possible 3 adlinks on any page. But not on the best spots with best CTR. On those spots use adsense ads in the correct size format to not have Ads by Google first.

So they could be clicking the ads by google link instead of the actually text link ad, I talked to my buddy and he said link units will have a cheaper pay out because they cost cheaper to advertise on, so of course the image and text box ads will cost more cause you get more exposure, than just a word.

 

I agree with You. On my website I got very little earning for link unit ads. Of course It's because of the little exposure as well.
But for the text ads, It's much better than image ads on my side.

 

UNIT links get a lot of clicks if you place it near the title but they pay shitty! Im not even gonna bother with those links at all, cause everytime I get clicks I feel that it could be clicks wasted thsoe who clicked that might have clicked a text and image ad instead.

yup the text ads with the short description pay well, but also a lot of IMAGE ads pay well too!, I think it costs more for the advertiser to put up an image ad, so image ads should pay higher I believe.

 

I this what the TS means is the Text Units.

I agree with him that those text units is really a waste of time. you can focus your ads on the text links(specifically on medium rectangle ads).

 

It is depends on the niche, your niche is low pay niche and the pay for the text units is low
