So i'm running my directories, and I do sell featured links, aswell as placing google ads on my site, however, I do not allow links in the top of my directories. I was wondering is it a good idea to also sell links for the top of my directory so they appear on the main page? Has anyone tried this or had an success with it?
Did you mean about expand the advertisement area, to the top of your website? Didn't you mean about current featured listing? If so, why not? You just going to better utilize the space usage anyway. I think many advertisers do love to have links on that space as well. However, be selective with outbound links to prevent bad-neighborhood issue later.
1- Do not put too many links, apparently too many outbound links can be frowned upon by search engines. 2- Try to keep them relevant, link to other sites/pages that are on a similar topic to you. 3- Accept high ranking sites, some SEOs argue that if you link to highly ranking sites for the keywords that you’re after that it will have more impact.
It is no problem where you place your sell link. i can put all the link anywhere i want and has no penalty or any bad result. What i have to focus on is how the site layout look like?
