This is my first attempt to build a WordPress site (Forex site in my signature) I managed to learn how to add a custom header, but the old header still flashes before mine loads... Everything is screwed up (misaligned). I was unsuccessful trying to add a banner ad into the right column --doesn't show up. Does anyone have any clues on how to make it look *normal*? Thanks!
I have an experience about this hope it can help you. Once of all you must understand what kind of themes are u use, you have to study more about your theme. Seek the tutorial about that, than if you understand to work flow of your theme you will know where to change the code, how to change the banner and so on. so it's depend on what theme are you using.
Wordpress are easy for some, but aren't for others Adding a banner in the sidebar, you could of copy the code and paste it in to text widget. This is in Admin/appearance/widgets/text. Cheers
The backend takes some getting used to, but the learning curve is short. Wordpress only becomes more difficult if you're making a custom theme or modifying an existing one because you need to know a little CSS and PHP. Some plugins may be a headache to get working as well.
We have so many website that we build using worpress. In a month we can build around 20 website using wordpres. Something that i like using this one is quickly crawl by google.
Find where is the old banner, find its code and replace the old url of the image to the url of your new banner. Or rename your new banner with the same title that the old, delete the old and upload your new banner.
Looks like you got the banner thing taken care of, looks fine on my end. When you are first starting out, and you have no experience with HTML or PHP (like I was) , Wordpress is not easy...actually nothing is. The first time I opened one of the files, I thought there was no way I would even learn this...and now there is nothing about WP that I can't fix, troubleshoot, edit or change. The more you play with it, the easier it gets, and soon you will know it like the back of your hand. Compared to other publishing and blogging platforms that are either limited unless you can code you own functions, or over coded and bloated, Wordpress is the easiest and most flexible.
The misalignment could easily be due to the template you are using. Wordpress is easy to use when you figure out what you want first, and then find all the templates/plugins relevant to what you are trying to accomplish.
Oh, my. The Phrase is Means that the more you practice, the better you will become. If you want to become great, then you should practice as much as possible.
