How to beat wikipedia

My site is on no. 2 position for Pune India keyword and i want it in no. 1 position but is it possible to beat Wikipedia ?

 

Wikipedia got millions of backlinks and google trust it too much so I don't think it is possible to defeat but if your website got really good backlinks and is few years old then I guess there is possibility.

 

It think it is possible if you add categories / subjects that are not available on wikipedia

 

It is possible to beat Wikipedia but you're really trying to beat wikipedia and google maps ... which isn't going to be possible I don't think.

Why not expand your keyword research to target more phrases .... restaurants, bars, clubs, real estate, temples etc. etc.

Also you can make your title tag more efficient by using:

Pune City India

Instead of:

Pune, Pune City, Pune India

There's no need to have the repetition and it actually dilutes the 'potency' of your title tag.

 

I think Wikipedia has already established itself and has developed a name that is trusted by almost everybody on the net even the big giant Google so it would be difficult to beat them. It also has millions of reliable articles in it as well as quality ones.

 

May try it, but there is almost no chance to beat it.

 

your site have the PR4, i think you have chance to beat it as i saw there are many companies with the same pr but indexed better than wikipedia

 

You have to being trusted by Google more than Wikipedia. If you have observed throughly you would found that Wikipedia has first page ranking for a ton of long-tails keyword not because of its link popularity and domain age. The most important part is, they have "very high trust" and "very high authority" status from Google perspective. A bit hard to come over Wikipedia anyway.

 

Just focus on three-words keywords like Pune India culture, Pune India history, etc, and you might easily bit WP, since WP is normally not ranked well for three-, four-words keywords. Of course the traffic from each of these keywords will be less than from 'Pune India', but if you are able to get on top for many of such three-words keywords, then you will get even more traffic in total.

You will find it extremely hard to beat Wikipedia, not that i am saying it is impossible. Just hard.
