    Hello,

I am interested in consolidated all my hosting accounts (right now shared accounts * 3) into one VPS managed server.

I wonder what is your experience with hosting companies and what you will recommed.

    My needs are:
    min. 512 dedicated RAM
    30 GB HDD space
    min. 200 GB traffic
    managed (WHM,cpanel included)
    proxy suport

I was looking at offers from:
    hostgator.com
    sitevalley.com/vps-hosting-new/
    kickassvps.com/services/linux_vps/plans.php
    fdcservers.net/virtual_servers.php
    apthost.com

Please share your ideas or recommend some good/cheap VPS hosting.

    Thanks,
    BR.

Do your own research for each web hosting company you have mentored. I believe a lot of reviews can be found

Are your current 3 domains hosted on separate shared hosting accounts? If so, have you considered simply changing over to a 'multi-domain' shared hosting plan and consolidate them that way? There are plenty of hosts who offer high spec multi-domain shared plans - that would be considerable cheaper than the managed VPS option.

    Just a thought.

From all the companies you listed I believe HostGator is the only company that is fully managed with cpanel at a fairly decent price $30/mo with 768MB of guaranteed memory.

768 Mb RAM is for 39$ not to add that cPanel is extra 10$ so it is quite a difference.

I will have a look at myhosting.com also.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ is where you want to check for offers and reviews. WiredTree, Knownhost & ServInt are three of the highest rated VPS providers - although they aren't going to be the cheapest, but you need to decided if you want a proven track record of uptime and service or just the lowest price.

I don't think pricing range should be an issue. If a host is really good at what they do, they should know to have different packages that fill different needs/niches. I don't know about most other hosts but myhosting.com does it.

I love their VPS packages and I can easily move between them for my needs. Will prob go dedicated with them once I need it.

    I found a good offer from HostaVPS.com,

30$ / month managed server + cPanel 12$ but I have a 50% discount lifetime offer so it is 21 $ month for a 512Mb - 2 Gb (max memory). I will decide today anyway.

I currently use MediaTemple and I am on the DV Rage Plan (40GB Storage, 1.8 GB RAM(I caught a special upgrade), 1.5TB Bandwidth) and I pay $100/month.

Does anyone recommend a web host to compete with them and at a cheaper price while having a good track record like uptime, root access, and fast server speeds. I tried to find the CPU speeds but could not find it. Thinking about:
    Hostway.com (1st dedicated server package (http://www.hostway.com/dedicated-servers/)), GoDaddy (Value Deal (http://www.godaddy.com/hosting/dedicated-server.aspx?ci=9014)), HostaVPS (Hybrid 2 (http://hostavps.com/hybrid.html))

Thank you, All opinions are welcomed.

MT runs raid 5 on their DV servers (http://mediatemple.net/webhosting/dv/faq.php#74) which is slower than servers running raid 10. Comparable VPS provider would be ServInt (http://www.servint.net/vps.php) and their middle range VE is $89/mo and you get 45 GB storage, 1.5 GB ram (burst up to 3 GB), and 1.5 TB transfer running Raid 10 with 15k SAS drives and that includes cpanel if you need it.

Have you used them? If so, can I ask what site you have with them?

I was looking at their sites and they seemed a little slow.

Can the Raid 5 be that slow?

Definitely pay the extra for cpanel - it is so much easier than DirectAdmin provided free with most VPS plans.

    Hello WI-Rob,

HostaVPS was good choice from budget point of view and reviews were ok but they did not accept PROXY services so I can not use them (my goal was to unite all websites ~14 in one, including 4 proxy services), it is quite disturbing as I had a 50% off coupon.

I will keep searching and hopefully next month I will switch to a new host.

    Regards.
    R.
