I hear that wordpress MU will become unsupported when 3.0 comes out and 3.0 will have all the capabilities of Mu? Can anyone confirm?
I always keep track of all posts on WordPress development blog http://wordpress.org/development/ and never heard such a news
That's the buzz. There will be only one Wordpress with all features combined. http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Andrea/Create_A_Network It's still not going to be easy for just everyone. You still need to have the proper hosting to handle a blog network, that's not going to change. Here's another article about all of the new features: http://www.designer-daily.com/whats-coming-up-in-wordpress-3-0-6206 @nhc1987. I really don't see how you've missed that if you keep up with the latest developments. It's been the talk of the community since it was announced and every Wordpress blogger has written about it at least once..it's even been in the Worpdress news in your dashboard.
Dont tell me that I spent days installing wordpress mu. Will all the plugins now work, as a lot dont with MU
I've heard that WPMU will be discontinued when WordPress 3.0 with MultiSite features are released. I'm not sure about this, but scribu, a famous WP developer has said that at my blog. Anyway, WP 3.0 is very similar to WPMU, and if WP team can integrate them via export/import tools, I think that's not a big problem for users.
No, every plug in won't work. Every plug in doesn't work now with WP Single User. But many will. So far I have been able to find one that is supported enough to do what I need. Many free MU / Buddypress specific plug ins are out of date or the developers are MIA...kind of sucks, but at least there are other options.
