Hi. Not sure which one I should use. As far as I have dug up, web hosting may not be good for my project. Basically, I need to buy server for my upcoming project. It is going to be a huge one. I believe there will be 50 online people if not more. Script is made by me and it is lightweight and clean script so it should not overload the server. The server should also let me add multi domains. It should be enough of 20 domains or so with ability to expand the package. I have no idea about the bandwidth but the storage should be about 10 GB maybe more. It is completely legal and legit project obeying all laws in US and UK and other countries.

My budget is up to $60 / month. It would be excellent if I had option to pay for 6 months or less.

I suppose web / shared hosting won't do. Dedicated IPs would be awesome. The project is a browser based game. Actually, 3 of them so the server should be 24/7 on as it will be working every minute if not second.

I think my budget is reasonable. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks for help

    Don.

    :)

I think you should be looking at a VPS, not a dedicated server. For that budget, you can get a good VPS with a decent amount of RAM. The nice thing about a VPS/Dedicated server is, you can add as many domain names as your server can handle. I would recommend getting a control panel with your VPS as well, and even with cPanel (one of the more expensive, but worth it control panels), you should still fall within your budget. As far as payments, most companies will do monthly payments, not 1/2 - full year at a time.

Your budget is very reasonable for VPS.

If you search hosts for these requirements you will find plenty that will fall within your budget.

    Good luck!

For a budget of $60/mo you can get a higher end VPS. Make sure you get a VPS with a reputed hoster for good support and 100% uptime.

Alternatively, you can get cloud servers also at your budget. Cloud can give you a great scalability.

I would recommend you shift your search for the low end dedicated server instead.

With that price range, you can find good VPS providers. Good luck, search reviews well.

As most said your budget is enough for a very good VPS server with cpanel included and managed. I don't think you're gonna find a very good dedicated server for $60. It's out there but it's not going to be managed. Take a look at some of the following:

    hostgator.com
    modvps.com
    solarvps.com
    servint.com

i f i were you, i would use a vps, a xen vps exactly, but if you're new to a 'vps thing' you should have cpanel installed to managed the vps

I do not see why would you need a VPS/VDS for that. I guess you can start with any reputable shared/semi-dedicated hosting provider.

But if you do want to go with VPS/VDS server, make sure you get a fully managed provider. (If you dont know hoe to completely mange it). And with $60/month budget, do not listen to people that advise you to get low end dedicated server. You should be able get a Mid end fully managed VPS for that price.

A mid end VPS would always beat a low end dedicated server.

I am paying exactly $60 right now for my VPS at solarvps. And i am hosting a ****load of wordpress blogs on it. I would also go with a VPS unless you really, really have a reason you want a dedi.

Don't even bother going with a VPS for that price, I can get you a full dedicated server for 65 euro, which would come out to $82 a month.. stats are as follows.

    intel e2160
    80 gb disk
    1 gb ddr2 ram
    100 mbit unmetered shared bandwidth
    directadmin controlpanel (if neccesary)
