Hello guys! I am a filipino working for an american for a year now and we are planning to setup an outsourcing firm here in the Philippines that will serve the needs of many internet marketing people. I am the country representative of the company and will be managing the rest of the group and its operation here.

Now, I would like to ask specifically what do you guys look for an outsourced employee? of course there are some obvious stuff like skills and attitude but i want to hear from you guys who may outsource people in the future. Since we are building this business having you in mind, its best that the service we will provide is in-line with what you guys will be looking for!

Hope to hear as many suggestions as possible so that we can properly setup the service. We already have the site up and it offers trainings and certifications for Filipino's. Unfortunately i cant disclose the site yet but will share them to you once we are all set. I set to talk to different schools here and partner with them so you can be assured that you will get quality employees once they pass our test. Thanks

I think the most problem of outsources is reliable provider. Most of outsources, especially web design and programming, are tend to Scam in one way or another. Even they do not Scam, but most of the works never been on-time regardless the price they have been paid.

If I were looking to outsources something, they would be
    1. Web Design / Graphic Design
    2. Programming (Long term / NDA signed )
    3. Custom Content Creation (Article / Press Release / Newsletter)

I have had bad experiences with philipinos.. Good luck, they dont have the best reputation - no offence. I ended up spending so many hours explaining and in the end they didnt know what to do (my personal experience at oDesk )

I haven't had any luck with people I've hired, so I'd be looking to start small and once performance can be verified then I'd be willing to expand.

Really, the most important thing is the ability to check their work to make sure the content being created is high enough quality as well as quantity.

Good communication is key as well as good references and samples of the quality of work

I have to say I AGREE with sxperm and RELIABILITY... I have encountered lots of problems with outsourcing to people that are NOT reliable. It is not only a waste of my time but also of my money. I have outsourced all kinds of things, but besides expertise, I think reliability is perhaps one of the biggest flaws most outsourced freelancers have.

It is not just with Philipinos, I think it is a problem that involves almost ALL Indochina countries (southeast Asia, India, etc.) The language barrier is perhaps a big barrier in order for them to fully understand the FULL requirements of most jobs.
