hi, Just how important are meta tags in SEO,or are they overated?could your keywords being in the domain, title and appearing 3 or 4 times in the homepage's article do a good enough job for SEO in a low competition niche?Thank you
That's fine, but understand that that's just the very basic of SEO. Instead of just optimizing your content for SEO, make sure it gives users what they want/need too.
In my opinion meta tags are very important so it's worth making sure you get them "right" and relevant whilst remembering that it's just one piece of the SEO jigsaw. If you are not sure how to create your own meta tags there are any number of meta tag gerators out there - a quick search and you'll be spoilt for choice...! Thanks Andy.
Don't discount the importance of titles and descriptions in SEO. They are the first thing Google will notice about your website. Spend some time developing unique titles and descriptions; it will go a long way.
Title is the most important thing in your meta. I don't think so description and keywords are very important.
Some people say that metatags are important. Some people say that search engines ignore them now. Who are the experts on this forum, and what do they say?
Title is the most important and description is also important... Meta descriptions have three primary uses: 1. To describe the content of the page accurately and succinctly 2. To serve as a short, text "advertisement" to click on your results in the search results 3. To display targeted keywords, not for ranking purposes, but to indicate the content to searchers Meta Keywords is just a waste of time..
META tags are important because, at least to me, help figure out how to categorize different sections of my website...from a descriptive point of view.
META tags are very important when it comes to SEO. Let me give you an example. Google uses the META Description tag to create a small 'snippet' about the content of the site. Here's an example: Now, here is the corresponding META description tag So, if you use relevant keywords and describe the contents or theme of your website in a proper manner, it will really help a lot when it comes to better rankings. But please, do not misuse this tag for keyword stuffing. Google penalizes stuff like that.
When u work for organic traffic with a site, META TAGS are must. Probably all search engines are looks title and meta description of a web page. If you put your site related "keywords" (which is the best search term of your web page) as your title tag, then the engine will indexed your URL based on your title. So META TAGS are very very important for a web page.
Metatag is the most inportant thing in SEO, when any body will search by the keywords and If Google already store that keywords related the matatag then it's possibility to come in first search result
Though meta keywords tag and meta description tags are not the main factor search engines consider when ranking sites, they should not be left off the page. A meta description tag is supposed to be a brief and concise summary of your page's content. A meta keyword tag is supposed to be a summary list of the most important words on your page. They were both proposed in order to make using the web easier. Unfortunately, webmasters over the years have abused meta tags so much that search engine creators have had to de-emphasize their importance in their algorithms.
yeah.. it helps!!.. Having a good keyword density in your content is a best way to have a optimise content.. Meta tags are also important but not much.. the most important is the Title..
In my opinion meta tags are very important so it's worth making sure you get them "right" and relevant whilst remembering that it's just one piece of the SEO jigsaw.
Title tags are very important and can mean the difference between ranking well or not. Another thing I notice alot is people forget to put in a header tag or two. H1, H2, H3 tags are still a very important factor in SEO work.
Anyone who says meta description and meta keywords is very important, is not looking at google. Google ignores the meta keyword altogether. Google may, emphasis on may, use a snippet from your meta description. But then they may not. If your site is in the DMOZ, they may choose to quote that. They also may choose to use a piece of your page if your meta description is not what they feel should be quoted. The two metas are not that important as far as google goes. In fact, they are not really that important. Do a search for digitalpoint and see what comes up as a snippet. You'd be surprised. If you are on forums.digitalpoint.com, the meta description is "Search Engine Optimization and Marketing forum." Doing a search for digitalpoint on google, the snippet reads, "Discussion related to search engines, including optimization, marketing, tools and other technical aspects." There are a couple of reasons for this. Do a search for internet marketing forums, and digitalpoint's listing is using the meta, plus a little more. Google chooses what it wants, not what you want. Eventually, html5 and microdata will make these metas even less important than they are now. If you are not aware of html5 and microdata, get on board! Stephen C
Meta tags (Title and Meta Description) are the beginning of optimizing a page and ARE important. Heading tags are also important for on-page optimization as well as RELEVANT content utilizing the correct keywords for the particular page you are creating content for.
