Few questions.

I have a few questions about submitting to directories.

#1 Do you normally have a reciprocal link and if so where do you put it?

#2 Is there really any point in submitting to a directory that has 1314 links and 1871 pending? That just seems crazy.

I have read that submitting to directories is a good idea so I am trying to get back in the habit of submitting to at least 25 per day. But no mater how many I submit to my back links never seem to grow that much. So what is the point?

    1. Dont bother with a reciprocal link at all, dont choose that option, use directories that dont force that option.

    2. Thats up to you, they might get to it eventually, crazy is seeing 45 - 50k pending, again they might get to those too (individually) but i doubt it, probably just collecting email addresses when the pending is extreme.

    3. Then dont do it, dont use directories, simply find another option, there are plenty of ways to get backlinks.

OK, yeah I have not been bothering with the reciprocal links because my "links" page would get huge fast from all the submissions I am doing.

Is 25 - 50 manual submissions per day a good amount. I have read that if you suddenly have too many backlinks it can backfire and hurt your search engine standings.

A good reason not to bother with recip.

Theres no worry for you because not all will approve, the ones that are will get approved at different times and of course as you know they will take even longer to get picked up by the search engines.

Just steer clear of submitting to those huge directory networks where every drectory is called link......info

And brand new pr5 directories <- lol you know why ;)

And general web directories with a domain that doesn't fit it, like vegetariandogfood.com lol unless its a super tiny niche and maybe theres enough vegetarian dog food sites to justify launching a niche directory for those. :)

You should get back to the old days habit when directories
were used by the people, and submit your site for the visitors,
and try to forget about back links for the search engines.

indirectly you'll get a link, if you notice that your site is profitable partner

i do not want to use reciprocal link as this will get penalized by google. If you have some money, you can buy real one way link pointing to your site as this will help increase your ranking very well.
