As a rule of thumb you will need at least 200 words of unqiue text on a page to beat people using dupe content. Better to have 400-500 in my opinion though.

I don't believe the number of words is critical for SEO as such. When writing a post, you should consider the audience first and worry about SEO second. If you have a good post with unique content, it will be more likely to get commented, tagged, retweeted, stumbledupon, etc, all of which will then gain you and the article notice with the search engines.

I believe that most posts should be at least 250-300 words in length. But you should also mix it up with the occasional 700 word post as well as the occasional 10 word post that includes a large photo. This looks more natural.

    The more, the better!
300 minimum, but articles which have 700+ are awesome and if you promote them a little bit could get tons of traffic from search

first of all let me clear that for what you are talking about, articles or blogs?
Anyways whatever you might be targeting to,word limit never limits you in getting traffic or Backlinks what matters is unique content .Try to upload fresh and unique contents on your desired word limit,

There is no exact minimum of content length, but I would recommend to use content not less than 250 in words length per page to be optimum.

As compare to 300, 500 words post would be more seo friendly because content is king. Length as well as the quality of the content must be high for getting the good position into the search result pages.

    Thanks

If you are asking for SEO point of view, than 350 words. It is said that search engines crawl a minimum of 350 words of your content to get familiar with your content/category/keywords/niche.
