    Hi,

I have question and I haven't found the answer yet. I am running a subscription based stock forum. I have 1 Million page impressions per month and around 42000 unique users (per month). However these stats are generated by around 100 different people.
This is why: My statistic counts unique users after 30 minutes again. This means: If I have 100 people being online 8 hours they generate 1600 unique visitors per day (so around 42000 unique visitors per month...weekends stock market is closed so hardly any visitors).

Do you think the CPM is useful and if so what do you think I will generate?
(I have heard that financial ads pay a lot more than other ads…)

Generally, subscription based forums don't show ads to their members. They keep it clean for their members. But I think you can try CPM ads somewhere in footer or someplace which is not disturbing for members - to get the idea if it's worth it or not.

I don't think CPM ad network work this way. Try them and see how much you're able to make.

Using AdSense on your site could disturb the flow you already have. They can be quite distracting... and ultimately they take visitors away from your site. It is a risk that you have to measure carefully. You have to be able to guess the reaction of your visitors. If they're not going to take too kindly to the ads then forget it.

On the up side, yes financial ads pay a lot. I guess if you can find unobtrusive locations on your forum you might be able to get away with it.

    Good luck with your decision.

Thank you very much!! I am sorry about my bad English.

I haven’t had ads in my forum. However I will implement 2 new features which cost a lot and I don’t want to raise the price. Therefore I will totally change my homepage and forum (ads should fit quite nicely then). I will offer new features [sms notification (I only charge a little for that) and real time quotes (I will charge nothing)].
I hope people wouldn’t mind that. I did a survey and I think people are happier with ads than with increasing prices.

Since I have really no Idea what I could get with ads I would be happy if someone could give me an estimated income. (if you don’t want to post please send me a boardmail)

My new homepage will be ready in 1-2 weeks. I don't want to try it now since the new one will be totally different from style, design and menu.

Do some short term testing on it to see whether it is viable versus other revenue alternatives that you have.

It is futile to look for approximation of advt. revenues as they are dependent on lot many site specific factors. Only way to gauge the revenue potential is by taking the plunge and seeing the actual money flowing in! :)
