Can someone please tell me about .name? Is it worth buying? Is it restricted? Is it a good choice for certain things? All insights appreciated. Thanks

Get .ME instead, if you want to create a personal website about you and your family.

    Besides sucking? Not much.

Godaddy used to offer them as an option, but they pulled it off the list over a year ago.

Well, is it worth it to buy a .name if you get a name that's been successful in other extensions and gets a lot of searches? Oh, and if all other good extensions are gone?

well not as good as it used to be. not too many years ago, regardless of extension the domain would come up if it was searched for. now you gotta do the dot extension. the internet it is a changin'.

but i do think info is good. i search for info all the time, so since i've been in this business i've been buying the dot info of any domains i get. go daddy is 89 cents for that extension.

and don't forget 'for sale'. I will search for something like gold wire and i get a million sites with info about gold wire and nobody selling any gold wire, lol. so now when i am buying i search for what i want and for sale afterwards. that is just me. but i Think that has got to be true with others too. so i ahve been using that for sale as a long tail and add it to my keywords as an option.

    just a noobe idea.

If your name is nick, you could register nick.name :p

would have been a good URL shortening site.
