Can someone direct a new person to marketing on the internet .I find info overload and don't know where I should start my focus, and any help would be great.thanks BB
First of all, internet marketing includes a lot of sub topics, that's why there's so much information. I think you should first identify what you want to accomplish, and then you could start by reading a book on that subject.
What's you site niche? Specify if you'd want to get some specific advice, otherwise we would overload you with general info even more.
Tell me 5 basic things and then maybe I will be able to suggest something. 1. What do you want to market? Is it a physical product, a digital product or a service? 2. How do you want to sell it? You want to bring people to your site and buy the product/service? or you want others to sell it for you and then get a commission? 3. What's your budget? How much money you have to market this product? 4. How much time have you got to spend? 5. What are your strong points? I mean writing, web designing, link building, programming etc.
Also you have to decide. Will you create your own product and sell it. Or will you sell other people products and get comission.
I'm thinking that beboss is just wanting a specific direction. If you are smart on a particular topic - art, photography, sports for example,....then you might be able to write a guide (ebook) on that topic and give it way for free in order to build a list. Take some time to think about what you are good at and go from there.
Actually these questions are getting you through the right direction since you still don't know where to start. Internet Marketing is a lot of work and without the right mindset, you will really never know where to start. Simply answer these questions now and decide for yourself what you want to target. Once you have finalized your ideas, start asking the "how" questions where we could get you to the right track of utilizing internet marketing with either SEO, affiliate marketing, etc etc. Good luck!
