A couple of tricks I picked from these boards like making the ads look like your content and having header title just above the ads helped me a bit.
Yahoo ads will almost always have a low CTR if you have a myspace or arcade type site. Thats just the way it is. Some categories work great for yahoo but not those.
I just found out they have a Books-Movies-Music-Tickets section now for targeting. That should help my CTR a little bit I would think.
It seems like ad targeting is not working all that well anymore for me... is anyone else having the same problem? I tried that and all I get is contextual stuff that is on my site... I though ad targeting would just show the targeted ads you pick the category for?
i thought i read that if you choose ad taretting it would do a mix of contextual and the targetted categories. not sure on that though.
I wrote yahoo about this and they responded with : Thank you for participating in the Yahoo! Publisher Network Beta program, and for taking the time to report the problem that you experienced. We have confirmed that users in specific geographic areas using certain ISPs were intermittently unable to access the domain that serves Yahoo! ads on your site. Advertisements may not have been displayed to all of your users. This could possibly account for the variance in RPC during this period. This issue was resolved on September 12, 2006. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
Has everybody recovered back to their typical levels (imps, CTR, RPC)? Mine are still all down significantly. They haven't recovered since the glitch on Sep 12.
I am not effected yet. Infact, I am getting little bit more clicks from lastweek. I think due to more relavance of ads.
