    Can't reach PayPal - paypalobjects.com doesn't return pings.

    What kind of a global billion-dollar payment processor lets its website go down?

    I wonder if it is my net connection which is to be blamed for slow loading of the Paypal site.... but it did get loaded. It is definitely not down for me! :eek:

    it must be from your isp effect. it can happen with some dns issues with isps

    It could be ISP backbone down. Try after 3-5hrs and usually ISPs fix the problem.
    Other way around is, use the opendns.com servers dns IPs instead of your ISP dns.

    thanks for the replies everyone. i do use opendns.com and everything other than paypalobjects.com loads just fine. i think paypal balance their load by routing paypalobjects.com to different servers on the basis of geolocation. that would actually be the a logical explanation to have paypalobjects.com as a separate domain in the first place.

    paypal have one of the lousiest sites on the net, but this is the first time in living memory that i couldn't even get through to their disorganized heap of crap

    A general maintenance would affect many people and not one or two individual. I guess the problem lies somewhere between his ISP and the paypal servers! :(
