Buying [Linux VPS] Cheapest Possible

    Hello.

I am looking for the cheapest possible VPS offer, that has remote desktop functionality. It must have good connection speed. CPU and RAM are unimportant, as long as the remote desktop client works fine.

WHM/CPanel are not necessary, because they will take up additional resources like RAM.

I would prefer the VPS to be with Linux installed, but whatever else it is - I must be able to connect to it with either my Ubuntu OS or XP computer.

Also, the location of the VPS is also not important, but US is preferred.

    Regards!

How cheap are you looking? As in remote desktop, you want VNC, correct?

    1. As cheap as possible.
    2. I don't have experience with remote desktop software, but as I said I must be able to control the VPS with my Ubuntu or XP machine remotely.

On linux systems this is usually done via SSH. Were you looking for some other form of remote connection?

I'll suggest you to go with a Windows as well as it is convenient to control via Remote Desktop.

If you insist that to be Linux, then it is necessary to install VNC on it, as you know that'll consume the resources, too.

The cheapest Linux VPS deals are available from proaxxs.net, this company has provided them in a quality way with around the clock incredible technical support and monitoring.
They offer a discount 25OFF on their VPS deals.
You may also get 2 months free with annual billing.

So the best way to be able to use remote desktop on a VPS is to use Windows? On the VPS needs to have OpenVPN. Am I correct with this? If so, then these are my requirements:

    1. Windows VPS with remote desktop client or Linux VPS with OpenVPN.
    2. Price: No more than $20, including setup.
    3. Should have a no-questions-asked, money back guarantee for at least a week.

Ok a lot of people quote the cheapest vps and in fact those prices are far from the cheapest.

burst.net gives you the most bang for buck that I have seen. Cheap as but quite oversold and the response times in connectivity are only average.

ramhost.us give less oversold vps's but their service is far from pleasant. Fast connectivity though.

Both these are for Linux and you are going to have to do a lot of learning to deal with them.

I use both these companies and would be willing to pay a little more for better website performance. Unfortunately, prices jump massively everywhere else and it comes down to suck it and see.

Month by month, I try another VPS provider, but so far, none have been better or cheaper than the above two.

Enjoy the decietful and BS world of hosting.

When I purchase VPS host with root and SSH access, can't I just install a remote desktop client on myself via the command line?

Like "sudo apt-get install [package]" on Ubuntu?

Surely, you can. There are tons of "how to" resources on the net, just google the keyword "how to install vnc on centos (or your OS)"

That would be better if you got a box over 512 mb memory, since desktop application (KDE or GNOME) will eat some of resources.

    Good luck.

Yes you can, but it takes time and is not just a single line command to get everything done.

Many providers have pre-created Remote Desktops on Linux Ubuntu. You do not need OpenVPN to use your linux VPS as a remote desktop. You will need a VPS with 512MB - 768MB + RAM to get a good remote desktop experience with GNOME.
