Can too much good quality content hurt my rankings?

I have been hearing again and again and again about content and quality to attract links.

So I will create a massive top quality content page on one of my websites.

The site is a Canadian moving company based in Vancouver BC but offering long distance moving services to every major Canadian cities and municipalities.

My website has now about 5000 words of good SEO related directly to the moving industry content. My new content page will have information on almost ALL municipalities and cities in Canada.

    Here is my question:

    - If my main subject text is 5000 words but the "massive content" page(s) has got over 50 000 words directly not related to the index file (although related indirectly). Will this dilute my keyword density for the whole website and make me loose my rankings?

    - Might my site now optimized for "Vancouver Moving Company" shift to being found for "Canadian Cities Information" and make me loose my main SEO theme?

    - Could having too much quality content not directly related to the index file and the website theme be detrimental to my website?

    - Can having a classifieds section, link exchange, or a large photo gallery also dilute a website's theme?

    Any input appreciated.

    Site in question is:

    Vancouver BC Movers

You should forget about trying to hit a certain keyword density - it is making your text sound like you are spamming and won't help you with SERPS. Write content that sounds good, not text that sounds like you are trying to target a keyword. No one searches for "Canadian Cities Information" so targeting that keyword would be a complete waste of time. Link exchanges are not good, period. They are not natural links (which is all google wants) and are only given because you give a link in return. I would take the choice off of your menu. Keep your content based on your focus after proper keyword selection. I don't know how a photo gallery would help you with a moving company.

High amount of quality content cannot hurt your website ranking. But overdoing it without caution or use your own sense may be anyway.

    1. There is not much different between those 5,000 - 50,000 words. I would recommend you use not over 1,000 words per page. Overdoing could pose negative to both user and search engine bots. Please do not forget about usability and loading time too.

    2. Inner pages content can be variation and unnecessary to have an exact similar topic like homepage content. Please use your own sense when defining for "relevant" contents.

Example - If your homepage content is about car. Your inner pages content has unnecessary to be a topic about car only but they could be about

    - Fuel
    - Tires
    - Car Audio
    - Garage
    - Engine
    - Valve
    - Lube

    3. You should focus to build quality backlinks along with the good content. You cannot archive high ranking for high competitive keywords just to have a good content, quality inbound link is a must.

I think that what you are considering looks much more like changing the site's topic than simply adding quality content. The content must remain about moving. You could do a separate page on moving to each city, but it should be confined to moving, not things like schools taxes, and so on.

If you did what you describe, I think yes, you would loose your rank for your current phrase. Just an opinion...

I do not see a reason why a good quality content based site is deemed to be banned or penalized.

    It just doesn't make sense.

Nope it's impossible. but the quality content must be unique and not yet published on other sites before, since Google don't like duplicate content.

I do not think that good quality content can hugrt the ranking of the website. As good quality content helps to get more visitors to the site as visitors need good content only. Also good content is really helpful is indexing in Google. So this helpful to increase PR.

Good quality content never affect your ranking so keep it up and about the classified section so it can't affect your content a lot.

No I dont think that high quality content can damage your ranking, but wait a second, what is high quality content, everyone can see this differently, not all people are article writters,so maybe your content isnt too high quality and that can of course damage your rankings, but if it really is quality content, you dont have to worry about it.

Your content is really long, and you have a ton of self referring links throughout it. In fact I've not seen one link to anyone but yourself. You've also managed to convolute multiple sentences and paragraphs to unnaturally force your keywords in. Not only do you force it where it doesn't need to be you also bold it. For instance:

It's not natural and doesn't flow. Also, having experimented with my own sites doing pretty much what you are doing I can tell you it doesn't work well. In fact too much of it will penalize you. So in short, no good content will not penalize your ranking. Trying to trick the algorithm into ranking you higher by "keyword stuffing" and all kinds of other tricks will penalize you.

I hope not, I think you should make sure you have deep links to all of the pages, titles and content which relates to movers and moving companies though

i dont think so, quality content never effect your ranking but if you do keyword stuffing then definitely you will get banned by google or other search engines. and do some off page stuff to improve your ranking
