Hi all The last time google updated their cache for my site was on the 8th april, ive updated it a lot since then added several new categories to the site and new posts etc, my site is also a PR 3. Any idea why its taking so long???? thanks.
Mine hasn't been touched in over a week, but it's a 0 as it's pretty new. I think they just got so much content to search through that they can't update everything more than every few days or weeks.
i thought that but then i checked my other site that i made last year that i don't update anymore and its been updated twice since mine on the 8th?
My theory on that is that if your site is updated frequently, it will encourage Google bots to revisit your site more often to check if something has changed. If however, this was the first update in awhile, that would explain why Google is not visiting your site very often.
Did you ping your new content out? If not, no worries. Just go tot he popular ping sites....do it, then go over to some popular sites that get tons of traffic and lots of new content, drop a bunch of comments and watch the indexing occur...if you haven't already- switch to a wordpress blog or something...it will make your life easy.
Exactly. If your site is not updated daily, weekly, or even monthly, Google bots will not return to your site very often. Say twice a year m aybe? I suspect that the frequency of the visit is determined by how often you update. Although I may be wrong here, but if you update your site on a monthly basis, then maybe Google will return once a month or so once it gets a feel for your sites rhythm. Have you submitted any of your updates to SB sites yet? That should help.
do some social bookmarking, directory submission, article submission and post some unique content to your blog.....then your website will be crawled by spiders.......quickly
i only started the site in feb, ive been updating it every day since ive added a load of new content recently and ive added more posts to my blog but still nothing, ill just have to wait for google to catch up.
I've updated mine every couple of days, actually daily if you take all the new posts into account, since it's a forum. Google hasn't touched my site in almost 2 weeks.
I do second on ThoughtPunk about this. Website update history is the key for how frequently the bots will visit your website. I would recommend you to add new unique content daily for two weeks. You would see some changed on Googlebots activity in a soon.
site-maps do wonders, pinging helps only if done 1-2 a week, link building gets you crawled and updates cache. When you stop doing SEO it starts to make website abandoned, that is why blog and forums are easier for SEO. Every new entry is updated with search engines. This is why it is good for SEO also because you make an entry and then it gets pinged, all links are looked at and then you can get the benefit of it also.
thanks for all the help guys, everytime a new page gets added to the site i always update the sitemap, ive submitted to well over 400 directories manually and i do about 30+ a week, i do pinging on pingler when i update.
Good one Budster2005 that a fair amount of work so I wish you a lot of success. Google can take time sometimes and who but Google knows why.
