If I buy a dedicated server am I always allowed to sell space/bandwidth/what ever on it (since it is mine for the month or year)? I am assuming I can, but I want to make sure. A friend of mine may buy a plan and I want to make sure that he can sell the space he is not using . Thanks nolag
Some companies have strange restrictions about what you can/cannot do, but the general answer is Yes, you can do what you want and resell space on the server if you want to.
Gennerally, if it is a real dedicated server, not vps, then they should allow you to do what you want with the server, providing it's not illegal.
Well granted the it's not illegal part . Is there any way to make sure that you are given what they say they give you? If its a VPS or dedicated server I should be allowed to run heavy aps so I guess benchmark maybe?
Most OS or software can detect the hardware on your server so it would be easy to find out. I can't see any legitimate company attempting to cheat you on a server specification. You can run "heavy aps" if you want as the only person it will affect is you.
You can resell space on our Dedicated and VPS servers. We even give you free billing software to charge your clients.
Most host would allow that, Just contact your provider to now more. If you are reselling space/ bandwidth you would be responsible for any abuse made by the users who are sharing your server.
You should read the TOS really carefully but I am under the assumption that with dedicated servers, you can do anything you want. It is your server for the amount of time you pay for it.
Yes, most of the hosting providers offer administrator access to the dedicated servers and hence you can create accounts as per your wish and sell those hosting plans according to you. If you planning to become a reseller and need a dedicated server, I'd like to tell you that you can choose BODhost for a dedicated server as they'll offer excellent features along with email support for your customers
