Hi there, I wanna build a niche directory, though i don't know on which subject... Health, travel, webmaster (got one already), gambling, real estate, web directories, references, yellow pages... - Can you guys share approximately how many visitors you get per month/day within your niche directory (whatever subject), and comments on the submissions (if you get spam//good submissions). - For webmasters that owns a directories-network from general to niche, that'd be nice to get comments on the traffic you get on your niche regarding your general directories , Here is i think one of the source that might help people out if they have the same problem as me (doesn't know what kind of niche to do Ewwww ) I want to do a gambling niche, but let's see what you guys post
Yep ok, well, i guess the general directory one gets more traffic than the business and travel niche right? Which one between and business and travel is doing the best?
100 uniques on a game niche is pretty good, hum.... right now i feel like gambling and games/sports is a good idea for a niche.
Yeah I own a couple high traffic gaming sites so the hits are coming from there, Also I bought a lot of links. But good luck if you decide to go that route.
Hehe i was off for lunch... Well guess we'll talk bout that tomorow ... I guess its not that easy, gambling directories sounds like spam to many webmasters. I'm interested in making a game niche because i noticed that there are many quality gaming sites (whether gambling or not), and not only spam... It's not like a health niche when you receive some 'breast and penis enlargment pills site'. My second is to create a 'Zeal' clone ( i saw that thread about Zeal Editor something and i had a flash back, might be funny to have a zeal category structure directory ) for business sites only. Any suggestions, and comments about your niches are welcome
I would recommend that you go niche. general is just too broad to market, unless you a have an extreme budget. With niche sites, you can really really focus and make a fantastic site. I'm sure PP will definately give you some good heads up advice too
I've got a niche directory for Gambling related websites which seems to be doing ok considering it was only launched a month ago It's a bit of long term project with hopefully it bringing some return in year 2....
One problem you might have with niche is that you won't get many submissions. I get maybe 1 or 2 a week and thats about it. But on my general directory I'll get about 10 a week.

I have a few niche directorys most don't get much traffic or submissions. I have one general directory that gets average traffic and submissions.
Coming from my experience I can tell you health and insurance related directories do very well for traffic. They are easy to optimize and you'd probably be hard pressed to find a more written on subject than health related topics. Maybe politics. Good luck, I'd love to see what you come up with.
am working on a niche directory these days and am planning to make it operational in two to three weeks time.
I have a sports niche directory that is getting about 250 uniques a day, if you build a niche, put somehing else in to if you want tog get more traffic. On mine I put a bunch of sports facts in it which gives me most of the traffic form the SE's
So we got, Health, Sports, Travel, Casino Niche that are doing pretty well, love your comments guys . Thats a shame that i answer to your comments just now, Well right now i'm doing another general directory, i keep its address secret until i launch it... Also my "last" directories ( i want to have like 8 directories ), will be niche and i will have to choose between all those choices that you gave me.... I do think i will rush into a casino and a health niche, any other webmasters got a niche running pretty well, i saw many freelance designers niche out there, might be a good idea too
