My oldies are 60+ years old and they can do the basics like use email and google. Turning the computer on can be a struggle for my mum though LOL.

My parents are both pretty technology savy, from selling on ebay to webcams.

My folks that all this tech stuff will turn me into addict and make me ruin my social life, so they don't approve of my computer based lifestyle.
My dad only knows how to google something (via Chrome) and download a file, and mom doesn't know a C from computers.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this stereotype still exists that 'the internet' is a young person's thing.
It's 20 years old - the people who built it, who have been using it, improving it, making websites, making, using and exploiting search engines for the last 20 years are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.
So the answer to your question - they taught me (nearly) all I know...

Sorry to get back to you all so late, I am sure most of us had different opinions about their parents handling the technology.

To answer your question @Project Mobius,

My father - who is in his 60's - is a computer whiz. He used to make fun of ME for not having a PC, couple of years back.

My uncle, who is in his 60's too loves his computer, has some basic tech knowledge, but is otherwise constantly infecting his computer with viruses :D

My mother, in her 50's thinks they are the spawn of Satan, and refuses to even use them to read newspapers for free, or get e mail, or anything like that.

    Weird LOL.
