When you write bookmarks or articles with links to a particular site, you consider the audience you want to attract to it. Ideally, your visitors should have some interest in or need of a product or service and be arriving on your site in that state of mind. That said, if you're writing an article about a product a site sells you can sometimes add links to an unrelated site but one you think the article's readers might be interested in. For example, if you're writing about pink shoes you might add a link to a celebrity gossip site. I've noticed a tactic used by similar set ups to my own. (Perhaps it isn't new but I've only just noticed it.) They write articles with no relation to the site they link to. I'd have thought that although you can fool people into visiting a site, if they don't get what they wanted they bounce. So what's the point of doing this and doesn't it just make the internet crap?
I have never experienced with this tactic ever. But I think it will not work as you might assume. I do not see a logic why peoples who was reading article might have an interest with unrelated things mentioned in the article. I do think the relevant things could attract to those readers more than irrelevant in my opinion.
I have no tried it either. I think that it would be somewhat misleading. If someone is reading your article is because they are interested in what you are talking about. This means if you lead them to a site that is totally irrelevant you are not only fooling your customer but you are not doing anything to build their trust in you.
Maybe they just want to get backlinks. Maybe they run out of things to write in the niche. It does sound funny to write about pink shoes, and bring people to an automobile site.
I do an awful lot of article marketing and I do not always link to my sites nor do I promote link wheels any longer. I have spent some time developing another process which I outlined in a free ebook. If you want it it is here: It's free to one and all: http://www.mediafire.com/?5ynmnoeztt2
Lot of people do it for link building purposes as some article directories only accept certain nice articles. Also lot of people by those PLR article packs which have many different niche articles in them so they want to use them all. And some people probably do not know what they are doing that is why they doing it.
What's this quote to do with the price of egg? Any chance you could read the post thread and make a relevant comment? I don't suppose you'd consider offering some decent insight into this matter rather than discuss your holiday snaps or what you watched on television last night? Still, no harm asking...
