Hey Guys, I got an email from some random list I'm on for a ClickBank product (plugintogreenprofits.com). The URL was: http://www.plugintogreenprofits.com/clickbank.php?hop=barnee53 However - if I go back to the main page, watch the video on the main screen and submit my email address I get a new hoplink and the original person who sent me over loses their cookie. WTF? It's getting harder and harder for me to find affiliate products that don't have all these goofy leaks on them.
I didn't inspect the page, but what you described isn't a rare occurrence unfortunately. Even though opt-ins on the sales letter can increase conversion rates, some vendors get greedy and put their own affiliate link, thus, that the affiliate loses the sale. It's a very unethical practice. Solution: when you're serious about promoting a product with an opt-in, opt-in yourself and check out if the links the vendor has are valid, or find a product without an opt-in.
If the vendor is stealing commissions like that, avoid them! That is a stupid thing to do, and they will eventually pay for that mistake. I have an opt-in on my product page because it gives me extra chances to convert the lead...but I never overwrite any cookies or include hops on any links, to be sure the affiliates get the sales they deserve.
Same here, and this is my number one frustration that vendors do this. I think there should be a big name and shame thread for vendors doing this, but you should also send them an email just letting them know that youll be directing traffic to their rivals - they might be just ignorant of how to run a site which would be attractive to affiliates and might see the light and change... maybe
Vendors are makin it tougher for themselves to get quality affiliates by stealing money, its a shame really as affiliate we should boycott thieves vendors like this
The link isn't formatted correctly. If you open this link in your browser, it won't override the cookies. http://www.plugintogreenprofits.com/clickbank.php?hop=barnee53
