What age were you when you decided to be an adult? What were your reasons behind your decision? And, how did it effect your life? I am almost 20 now, but i decided to be an adult at age 16. I wanted to be treated with respect and i was tired of having to ask for rides. So i stole my dad's truck and got in big trouble. But i get respect now for the most part because i stopped doing childish things.
I don't believe I've ever met an adult who doesn't do childish things. I make a point of being childish for at least half of my day. The waking half.
Well what i meant is i stopped doing "illegal" things. I have a clean record and now that im an adult i want to keep it that way. I have to admit i do still feel like and sometimes act like a child at heart.
I never did illegal things. I grew up in the suburbs - the most illegal thing we could do is put the trash out on the wrong day
I just did that the other day, cuz i thought labor day counted as a holiday for them. Well im bi-polar so i probably did illegal things for attention or something. But when did you decide to be an adult or did it just slap you in the face?
Well I had to take on adult responsiblities at the age of 17 when I had my oldest child. But I would say I acted like an adult before that on the most part. I was a lot wilder in those days though. Getting old is no fun!
Yeh i just realized a couple of days ago that im turning 20 soon. I still feel 15 besides all the everyday problems. And at least you chose to be in your kids life Honestlady. Most teenagers would've taken the easy way out. "Mother is the name of God on all childrens lips"
I didn't decide, I became an adult because it was time at age 18. I had never had a reason for think about, it just came as natural thing in life.
Thanks! I would have never given up my child. I knew what could happen when you played with fire. I made my bed so now I lay in it, literally. The good thing though is I'm young enough to have fun with my kids and remember what it's like to be one. I'm the cool mom...lol. I feel young most days, expect for when I think about how old my kids are. Heck I still get carded most of the time. I have to like that.
Umm I don't think I ever woke up one day and told myself I was an adult (maybe cause I'm still a kid, haha). It's just a natural thing as you mature. Apparently girls become adults younger in life, but that's BS For me, when I was about 21 I started to conserve my brain cells a bit and look at the bigger picture, lol.
Men do take longer to mature. That is a proven fact. Plus you guys still have to have your toys, they are just bigger and more expensive.
Just because you have kids doesn't mean you have to totally settle down. Life has made me mature, but I like to still have fun too. My kids think I'm nuts most of the time.
i've lived more in the last 5 years then 99% of people do in their entire lives, I can tell you thats for true.
