Cleaning up URL's.
Optimising Meta and titles.
Good quality, semantic, content based anchor text driven backlinks from authoritive sites and blogs relevent to your niche. These want to be pointing at similarly relevent and thematic content on your site.
Linking to deep pages.
H1's / H2's as paragraphs in articles from feeder sites that you then bookmark.

I could go on but it's all been said before. Nothing's different in the fact that you've got to get your on-page right and then a good balance of regular content and off-page SEO. Well, apart from the wonders you can work with twitter and Googles live feed...

 

Just to add, when i'm saying put H1's and H2's as paragraphs in articles, i mean to also add an internal link to your site.

Where do you get your quality pictures at, and how do you know you are not violating any copyright infringements? I have heard photobucket, google images, but with google images, I do not know how to tell whether or not I am doing something wrong. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 

certain things never change. Content is always king. Backlink is always important. I dont think seo techniques are going to change substantially in the foreseeable future.

 

what do you mean by "link baiting" ? Is that the same thing as "building backlinks" ? Any words of wisdom is greatly appreciated. I am still learning the lingo

 

There really is no "BEST" SEO technique for 2010 - So much has changed and it keeps changing every damn day - Very frustrating... lmao.

But, as most of us know... Building backlinks plays a big role in how much authority your site has, and is, essentially the backbone of any website.

Very True, Big G, Very True. Apart from the fact that if it is a true 'niche' site, you can do it on content alone.

With Google Caffeine rolling out the local results will rank higher than the regular results based on Geo-ip tracing. So now our localized sites will come up in the top results for the base keywords in those localized areas. So... if you optimize for 'New York Widgets' and someone is in New York and searches for 'Widgets' you will come up first. Google is slowly rolling out that algorithm and it should be in full-effect within about 3 months.

I only joined this forum to promote our Local SEO campaigns because it is basically THE hottest thing out there right now for SEO. But I need 14 days and 25 posts to be able to do that........... just being honest.

Seriously though guys... EVERYONE will be competing to rank highly in the organic results for the following formula [LOCAL REFERENCE] + Keyword because that will be taking over the regular searches.
