How to send money from India to Philippines?

I need to send about $100 to a friend in Philippines.

He doesn't have a Paypal account.

What is the best way to send this amount?

Due to regulations, Western Union, Moneygram etc cannot be used to send money out of India.

Xoom is asking for a US credit card or debit card and won't accept a Paypal payment.

What other alternatives do I have?

I can send a bank draft, but that will take a long time.

Can't the friend simply get a PayPal account ? An unverified account in Phillipines would solve the problem, won't it? is it not simpler to send via PayPal?

It is tough to send money from India via Western Union. The best choice would be wire transfer. Contact your bank and do the needful.

 

What if my friend creates a paypal account?

How long will it take for him to be able to withdraw the funds that I send?

 

Visit any branch of SBI and ask for cheque payable to SBI, Philipins branch..... SBI has branch in all coutries..... and send it via courier.....

I think it's about time for your friend to open a PayPal account. It should take him about 5 minutes to open one and about 3 days to verify it with his credit /debit card.

 

and it's possible to withdraw money even from an unverified account. Just instruct him/her to be extra careful while entering name and country of residence while opening account and to keep name same as the bank account where he/she will be withdrawing it to !!

i think you should go via paypal or bank transfer. Or get some friend of yours in another country to transfer via western union and pay to him.
