That would be a really tough term to rank for, but yes that is a buyer keyword. Usually people searching for "how to" do something have a problem they need solved. Some of them are willing to pay to solve this problem.

    It's actually a research keyword.

I suppose you would need good content and presell.

'best method/way to lose belly' would be a better buying keyword. Even better would be: "product name lose belly', 'does losebellyproduct work?', 'losebellyproduct scam?', 'best lose belly method'.

Yeah product names are always going to be the best, but I target a good amount of "how to" key phrases and they result in sales. The key is pre-selling them so they think the product you're promoting is the best solution and none of the free options out there.

You have to understand the buying cycle first then you can easily detect a buying keyword. My personal opinion is "how to" keywords are in the research phase of buying cycle, if you had some suffix to your keyword and target a good presell landing page then you can narrow down the buying cycle.

I will give you an example, keyword:"How to lose belly fats fast" here suffix is "fast".. this can change the conversion ration like any thing. The reason behind this is, the surfer is in need of urgent solution and with proper presell you can get good conventions.

    Hope this help..

"how to lose belly fat fast" would be the better choice out of the two as far as the actual keyword phrase goes.

However, I just did a quick Google search and checked the competition and you might have some trouble ranking for that word.

Not saying it can't be done, but if you're new to this stuff and not so familiar with SEO, you might wanna start with an easier keyword.

Change it to exact match and you will see [how to lose belly] doesn't get that many searches (1,300 according to the Google keyword tool) and [how to lose belly fat fast] gets like 9,000 or so.

ya i agree with u J1218.... But i dont think many people look for phrase or exact match. Most of them search for broad match.

It doesn't mean that they type it in as [keyword phrase] it just means that they used that phrase exactly in the search engine. For example, if you see that "how to lose belly" gets 300,000 broad match terms, all it means is that someone used the words "how" "to" "lose" and "belly" somewhere in their search query. It could be "i have a belly and i want to know how to lose it" and that would count toward the broad match of that keyword phrase.

It's kinda confusing but yeah, just always use exact match to see who's searching for that exact phrase.

Hey man, you said it is a keyword you got from google keyword tool then you might have got that search volume for a broad search if you want to rank well for that keyword then go to the same keyword tool and select exact phrase match, to see the exact number of visitors for your keyword. After this only go to google and type it in double quotes to see competition. Without doing this do not attempt to promote it.
For the search volume of 135,000 searches if you rank top 5 you might get 25 - 40 % of the traffic.

I used market samurai but it shows 2246 per day but it is difficult to even get 25% of the mentioned traffic. Because the data is for broad match...
