Are adsense account bans immediate?

    Hi all,

I am not very clued up on adsense myself, hopefully someone with some experience may be able to clear up a niggling question I have. Here goes:

If someone was cheating on adsense, or breaking the guidelines in any way, firstly would their account be suspended immediatly, or when they tried to request a payout? And secondly, how do google detect fraudulent accounts/fraudulent activity on an account e.g clicking your own ads?

    Thanks in advance, Josh

You don't request a payout, you automatically receive a payout when you cross the earning threshold. It appears that Google gives a closer look to accounts when they get close to that first payout, and many people find their accounts disabled at that point.

However, some people break the rules for a while before they get caught, even getting paid a few times. Other people have their accounts banned within a month of opening them. It all depends on when Google detects the rule-breaking.

There is an algorithm - Google doesn't share the details, but it probably includes data like the visitor's IP address, the referrer of the visitor that clicked the ad, how long the visitor stayed on your site before clicking the ad, how many ads were clicked, and how long the ad-clicker stayed on the advertiser's site. There are probably other factors as well.

If the behavior of the visitor to your site who clicked the ad seems "abnormal" in some way, then Google is likely to consider that to be an invalid click. The vast majority of visitors to your site will never click an ad at all, so if you are getting clicks from most of the visitors to your site, that's probably a red flag as well.

Usually because of invalid click, or fraud click...

Or... you can be detected from high CTR. So be very careful.
