    Hi there,

I've recently created a website and used a domain that has been around for a year or so.

It had a page of content on it and the description that comes up on search engines under the title hasn't changes since I've updated the site.

How long does it usually take for the description to change after you have altered the site. Im using wordpress and have gone in and changed the site description in the template.

    Any ideas?

How long is a piece of string?

For a new site it will take maybe 1-2 weeks.
The quickest it's changed for me is 2 days. It all depends on a lot of factors invoving how often Google indexes your site...

You may also want to install SEO for Wordpress. It'll help change the titles and descriptions.

You should consider using google sitemap generator and headspace plugins for your wordpress site, and also register your sitemap to google webmaster account if not alrady. Google webmaster account will help you lot periodically to know about your sites position on search engine and keyword popularity and much more.

It will change when Google crawls and indexes your site again. If there had been extended periods of time between updates, the spider is usually not inclined to come back very often.
