Add the new Facebook "Like" button to your website

Add the new facebook like button to your website. You can have the button count the # of likes or let it just be a static button.

When a visitor clicks the button it posts to their Facebook wall that they like the name of your web page and provides a link to the page as well.

You can generate the code below:
    http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like

    Example code:
    <iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fmporgsoft.com&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:100px; height:20px"></iframe>
    Code (markup):
Replace mporgsoft.com with your url I would also edit the iframe height and width parameters instead of using the generated code to 100 x 20 to make it fit into your webpage nicely.

I wrote an article about this last night, also explaining how to add this button to each post in a Wordpress blog. So if anyone needs additional help getting the like button installed: ustandout.com/facebook/add-facebook-button-blog.

The share button when added to a webpage and then clicked by a visitor will display differently on the visitor's facebook wall. It will show an image, title of page, description, etc and will allow others to like, comment and share. It is same as if someone made an entry on their wall.

You can create a share button at:
    http://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets/share.php

The like button when added to a web page and clicked by a visitor create a single line text entry on the Facebook wall telling their friends that they like website title and when clicked directs to the website.

The share button is by far the best tool for advertising, but may be too aggressive for some people. Why not add both? :)

Since adding this to the top and bottom of my posts my traffic has gone up, and bounce rate down, only slightly but I think it could be related to the addition. I do wonder though if people will be as inclined to 'like' facebook pages, now that 'fan' is gone. Especially doesn't make sense for bands, and what not - - I think they should have the functionality, but let us call it what we want to call it EG: Join, Follow, Fan, Like, Hate, Adore, Worship, etc... just my two cents.. Though would also be nice to be able to customize fb layouts more, the blue on white is really starting to give me a headache.

You are not stuck with the text Like. You can change it. Find the code action=Like and replace Like with your own text, example Suggest, Fan, Reccomend, etc
