I have heard that people makes thousands of dollars each month by blogging and I do know that the money is generated from selling space on the page but is there anyone out here who is really making a lot of money from blogging and would you like to share some of your ideas?
There are some top line bloggers in DP...............will they tell you how it is done, don't know the answer to that, but you will need to work real hard to compete with the top guys
have a new unique niche..that's how all blog start. a small niche that no one covered. Then you grow from there. If you are in US, pick up the current issue of Business 2.0, it has a very nice article on how blogger make money btw, i would say stay away from SEO or tech blog,, it is too hard to beat the big guy unless you have speical source to get information
I generate about 50% of my online income from blogging (high x,xxx) the best advice is I can give is choose a niche you enjoy writing about as it can take a long time to take off. Be very generous with your links to other bloggers, linking to and helping other people will often come back to reward you. Make contacts and friends with other bloggers in your niche and beyond. With regards to monetizing there are many options. Adsense is probably most bloggers primary source but also check out affiliates, chitika, BlogAds, Link networks. Once established with PR and traffic you can sell links/adverts privately on forums like this. On a good day I've made $200 here just selling links here on a per post basis. Blogging can take a lot of time and effort to make decent money and you'll find many blogs never do.
That's a very good start, it took me longer than 30 days to make $2 a day. It took me ~10 months to make $100+ per day consistently so you're definitely heading in the right direction.
It also helps if you are a competent writer. It's amazing how many bloggers can't spell, or write correctly.
I keep hearing about blogging to make money and i need to read more about it. Does anyone have a starter site they could recommend to get started?
I'm a notoriously bad speller, I just use a spell checker and proof read before publishing. It takes a bit longer but is well worth it. Check out www.problogger.net it doesn't really have a beginners section but is full of useful advice and tips.
A lot of people are making money just from selling blog posts in the links section here in DP. In other words, they'll blog for money/write a post about my site for a small payment. Hardcore bloggers look down on it but it's another avenue of money for some bloggers.
I make most of my blogging income providing a blogging service for a plethora of clients who don't have time to do it themselves. You'd be surprised how many websites and companies need an average joe to go and find random stuff to write about. I have 13 clients who pay me $69.00 a month to post four times a week. It's pretty easy money in my opinion. You just have to find the people who need someone to manage their blog and that is usally no easy task. I've also started to make *some* money through Adsense on my own blogs but it's slow going. I'll have to agree 100% with dct on the linking advice. Bloggers like to be linked to and talked about. The chances are that if you link to them it will come back and benefit you in the long run. The long run part sucks though...
I make that much per day writing articles and posting them on my blogs. You just need to look further into possibilities. In other words. Find other ways to market your writing skills. Hope this helps. Col
Along with this advice, take a good look at DCT's blog. It is the perfect example of how finding a niche and consistently blogging can provide $$$ results (this blog has over 77,000 backlinks in Yahoo).
77000 Backlinks, thats very great . DCT how did u made so many backlinks ? i made a blog one month ago , but after that i never returned to my blog . But now after reading the DCT's article , i will be going back to my blog.
It depends on how much advertisers are willing to pay for your subject. With a technology blog you "could" make that much off 5,000 uniques a day. I update daily which gets a fair few organic backlinks. I also use the Co-op (see sig) which I think Yahoo shows.
