If you bump a thread "properly" (with the Bump option), there are no infractions involved. Why would we give you a feature to use just so we can give infractions if you ever use it? lol I've not officially tested it, but I didn't put any code in there that would prevent a closed thread from being bumped. A deleted thread can't be bumped (for obvious reasons), but it doesn't matter if it's open or closed.
You can make your first bump anytime you want. The counter until your next bump starts when you make that first bump.
Could you please PM me the vb.org link for that addon Shawn? I can never find anything on that forum at VB.org as their search feature doesn't seem to work well. I can't even find UCash on there for example!
Shawn, suggestion... How about making that "Premium Member" logo clickable? Thanks for the Bumping option though.
Eh... it's a background image. Making it foreground image (required to make it clickable) can cause wrapping issues with other stuff in the post header. No plans to, sorry.
I understand your desire to see DP stand apart from other forums by exclusively using your expertise... but you do put in a lot of effort and time and seriously you should look to share them with the world... after may be couple of years. I just wish the society and masses to benefit from your effort as well! Regards, RightMan
It also becomes a time and support issue. It takes my time to wrap up the stuff I do into installable packages. It also takes my time to support everyone using all the free stuff I put out there. So in the end, it actually takes *away* from everything I should be working on (like new features here). That's not to say I don't plan on releasing some stuff I do... I just haven't decided how I want to do it yet where releasing free stuff doesn't consume too much of my time. Like some of the stuff I might put out as a favor to premium members or something... but just opening up everything I've ever done to the masses would just be a support nightmare. In the case of the bumping thing, it requires underlying table changes and is rather complicated internally. People would be accidentally screwing up their existing tables and expect me to fix it for them because they are stupid.
I got a question. If I bump my thread today (4/22) and then buy premium membership say 2 days later (4/24), when will I be able to bump again? 4/29 or 5/1 or 5/21?
Becoming a premium member will change your rights from a month to 7 days... and so you would be able to do the next bumping on 04/29 which would be 7 days from your last bump. Regards, RightMan
4/29... also works in reverse... if you bump with 6 days left on premium membership and you don't renew, you can bump 30 days from the last bump. It doesn't prorate time.
Good Feature .. I feel like work for me on DP again ..!! While we all were looking for options no one think of that?.. Now I wonder why he is "The Admin" Can you add a Paid subscription only for "Bump Your Thread in 7 days!" ..? Just one Feature and can charge low like $5 a month or so!
