Hi i just wanted everybody to review my current portfolio design. I am thinking about doing some major redesign changes so your input is valuable.

The full design should look like this if i had a blog ( which i dont have due too too much work at the moment ) but will have soon. PREVIEW

Also i will keep you updated on that as i will be offering alot of web interface design tutorials also mostly tutorials on photoshop and illustrator as well as free wordpress and xhtml css themes/ templates.


Aslo this is a complete custom theme based on wordpress cms. I have many custom options as well as a complete new write panel ( when writing posts i have new fields such as brief etc . This is an extensive theme created from scratch as always.


But anyways i would like as much criticsim as possibly D either good or bad as i might have over looked something .

 

The background color is a little terrible. The products picture is not clear at all.

 

What I like: It's creative
What I don't like: It's confusing not clear what you want to offer
That was just my opinion, keep up the good work!

 

simple, clean but attractive...

but maybe about your work... don't layer it with dark layer... just give a special effect if it is high lighted...

Thanks for your opinions.Yeah i agree that the image quality on the previews is lacking which i am reworking anyway's.

thanks KimiGermany yeah i havent really finished the design and i do agree that its confusing ( homepage ). Simply got to much work on at the moment but will finish this soon

thanks petr_ind i tend to go for clean & simple which you can see throughout my portfolio work . Also on lcd screens the layout tends to fade ie you dont fully see the effects unless sitting at the right angle whilst looking at the screen. I know as have three monitors .

 

There is so much clutter there.

Just make everything organized and you would be fine

 

I really cant find too much not to like about it. I do have one small gripe, and thats that navigation is just a tad cumbersome. I'd move the important info like past work and samples up to the top after click. Awesome site otherwise!

Hi,

I like your colour scheme. It's nice and bright and the yellow logo looks good. However, there are a few things I would change.

- The screenshot on the right seems to be blurred. If you are showing your work, why blur it? let people see it.
- The yellow 'ribbons' at the bottom kind of look like they are floating on their own. Some structure at the bottom of the page might improve it.
- The content of the site is a bit all over the place in some respects. For example, the phrase "Welcome To Areol Playground To Freelance Web & Graphics Designer Colin Daniel Lafferty" - that doesn't really make sense. Then there are a load of sections saying "we", "our" or "us" - is it a company website or your personal portfolio? For example, this doesn't read properly: "I Am Proud Of My Latest Work. Our Recent Work". I think you need to make all the content so that it is written from your individual perspective (I, My etc.) or as an abstract, company perspective (We, Us, Our etc.)

Yeah in actual fact you are correct and i will be re writing all my content . Thanks for the heads up thats one area i in actual fact need to improve on as sumtimes when i write i usualy write from thrid person perspective when in particular writing about myself then forget that that and write as if i was from a wider company ie saying us.

But i will infact be as you suggested and am doing as we speak re writing from my own personal perspective thanks again.

 

It's a very important aspect of a site. if the writing is confused it wouldn't inspire people to hire you no matter what the work looks like. A good idea is to get a few other people to read it afterwards as they might pick up things you wouldnt see. You should really take a lot of time thinking about the wording too and don't be tempted to stick it in as an afterthought with some clichés.

 

Yeah thanks for the information helps me alot. I shall take my time in future when writing content as i am fully aware that it is very important especially if im selling myself ( my services ). Conveying professionalism has to be my biggest priority and content writing is one of them as i am aware.

Design Has Been updated all across the portfolio

 

First of all, I can't get view all item in one page. I need to scroll even my resolution is big enough (1920x1200) .I can't imagine how it would like on resolution 1024x768 . Second thing is it look cluttered. Portfolio website should have something to focus on.
