http://www.ghostpool.com/wordpress/magnifizine/ Where can I get a minislider plugin like is on the right hand side of this site? Thanks
JustBusiness, Have you seen this one... wordpress.designpraxis.at/plugins/mini-slides/ it may be what you are looking for. -BlastFree
Oohh, that IS nice! The images are top notch as well which really makes it look nice. Also interested if anyone knows. Do you think you can do that with just a normal slider, resized? Found a nice little list here: http://wpstart.org/featured-content-sliders-for-wordpress/. I may check them out and see.
Now that's not a bad idea. Any programmers out there reading this that wanna take on this project? Group buy anyone? JB
I tried to do it with the normal Featured Content Plug in, but no dice. I think it has issues with MU and I couldn't find a fix. I am really interested in this, it has to be out there somewhere. Update: You know whats really weird? Who's ever site that is has no information on there, no contact, no email address, none of the social networking icons link to anything. If you go to the root, it just says "coming soon"....kinda dumb, but I did track it down based on the ads in the sidebar. It's in the theme (the slider) and it's for sale at Themeforest for $32 for wordpress, and $17 HTML http://themeforest.net/item/magnifizine-a-magazine-business-wordpress-theme/81920 I left a message in the discussion area and asked if the mini slider was available on it's own. It's a nice theme, but I just don't have the images for it.
I actually talked to the author about it. It was made custom for that theme so its not definite that it will work another theme. The styling may be off. But keep me aprised to the answer you get.
The name of the wordpress plugin for the mini-slider is S3Slider Go to the "wordpress plugin search" & do a search for the keyword S3Slider The plugin is Free. You can also find the raw javascript code on Google Search with the same keyword. Looks like you can adjust the slider width/height in the plugin, & have multiple sliders on a page.
Thanks for the info, nice work tracking it down...I looked through every search term I could think of and couldn't find anything like it. I'll check it out today.
From the demo it looks good. But its being used on their on the main content, not the sidebar. Now we just have to see if it will work in the sidebar. Can't see why it wouldn't though. +rep if it works. But Thanks in advance.
If you look at the URL's source code in the first post, for the javascript link below: http://www.ghostpool.com/wordpress/magnifizine/wp-content/themes/magnifizine/js/s3Slider.js Code (markup): You will see that pay wordpress theme is actually running a free wordpress plugin, that's how I found out what plugin/code they are running. Most code developers add their URLs to their (javascript) sourcecode... The wordpress plugin should be ok running in your sidebar, just change width/height as needed in the plugin.
Dude, nice work tracking that down. I just installed it in one of my MU blogs and it works perfectly ! Big Rep for you, that's the best tip I've gotten in a while.
Cool! Glad it worked out for you. That is a nice plugin. I havn't tried it yet, but it looked straight forward. A lot of times you can find out what plugin someone is running (javascript, etc..) by following the javascript URL, & looking thru the sourcecode of the actual javascript file. Most folks don't edit the original code, plus the code developers like to sign their work (it's a pride thing ).
Here it is in action on a site that I am still putting together for anyone who wants to see it in use outside of the developer's demo.(on the right sidebar). It's not linked to anything yet. http://fugget.com/ I tried it both in a text box (you will probably need the exec php plug in) and inserted into the template and it works both ways just fine. Still need to adjust the text from running past the border, but other than that, It's pretty much perfect for what I needed.
Yeah, I just threw it up to see if it would function and then got sidetracked , I'm going to fine tune the dimensions now and add my links.
hmansfield, what did you have to do get the plugin installed and working right? You didn't have to edit your theme did you?
its looks alike featured content gallery plugin result just seems looks a like with this site http://www.bluefirelab.com/ that rightsidebar,.. use featured content gallery
