How to change default gravatars in buddypress

    The default avatars in buddypres is funny, but it makes the communitys look very comic like. I would like to have a more "grown up" style in my buddypress blog. Typical some of the members never chooses a personal avatar, and I would like them to have my custom avatars.
    I would like to change the default avatars in buddypress.It looks like the gravatars are located at a gravatar account and are showed using a url to the account when I use firebug in the code.I am using the latest version of the buddypress parent theme. Is it possible to change the url to buddypress avatars with the url to my own accont with my custom avatars. Does anybody here know how the default avatars can be changed, or where the url to the gravata accont is located in the theme?

    In settings you can change (amongst other things) the default gravatar. I suggest Identicon for differentiation purposes (but not as comic-y).

    You can set that too, but then all your posters without a gravatar will display the same one... Not very usable.

    Try this: upload an avatar file to the BuddyPress plugin folder here: buddypress/bp-core/images/

    Now edit file bp-core-avatars.php located in the buddypress/bp-core/ folder , find line #141 and change the avatar file name on the end of the line per your needs, e.g.
    $default_grav = apply_filters( 'bp_core_mysteryman_src', BP_PLUGIN_URL . '/bp-core/images/avatar.jpg' );
    Code (markup):
    Now login to your main blog, go to BuddyPress tab -> General Settings and be sure the Mystery Man is checked as the default avatar.

    You're done. You have now your default gravatar created by you ;)
