Other than concentrating too much on SEO, I just can't figure out why we seem to be loosing hundreds of hits per week. Our site was beginning to get in excess of 100,000 hits per month this time last year, and even up until July/Aug we were still on around 80,000 and rising again but since around Sep/Oct we've noticed a decline in the stats and last month we were lucky to generate around 50,000 hits. Everything is down on the site, hits, pageviews, revenue and at this rate if it falls any further we're in real risk of not making enough to pay for the hosting. I'm really getting quite concerned and I'd like to ask if anyone can tell me if they can spot anything obvious that I may have overlooked on the site. I'm not being funny or anything, and it's not just a ploy to get visitors to my site, I'm seriously worried that we may be forced to close the site despite having nearly 2000 members and a loyal following of regular visitors - I realise that it's almost impossible for someone to tell me what's going on by just looking at the site but I'm just looking for any feedback anyone can spot which they would consider a potential troublespot with the likes of search engines - google brought the vast majority of our traffic in, and I've even noticed our Sitelinks have now dissapeared from google also, not sure if it's related or not. Hoping for some advice guys Thanks in advance Marko www.freewarebb.com
Hey Marko !! I have gone through your website and I Don't see any Internal problem with your site, as their is no Google penalty too on it, I came to the decision that this may be due to the lots of new websites with the same stuff are in the market now and hence giving you tough fight. You need to do Internet marketing of your website and increase the visibility of the website on other places too, generating more loyal visitors and continuous interaction with your present visitors. I hope this will end your tension. Give it a try.!!
Hi berg101, thanks for the reply, we've also just set up a newsletter which may hopefully attract more attention, we've been trying desperately to get the site known in most corners of the world but as you say, it's almost as though a new download site appears every minute, trouble is most of them are doing exactly the same as everyone else, whereas we are 100% human edited and totally manual (although this, I think put's most developers off submitting their products). Thanks again for the reply, we'll keep on plodding but if anyone else can spot any potential issue please keep the comments coming Marko
