I'd recommend promting things that match your website niche very closely - cameras etc are uber competitive nowadays so if you've got an exisiting ranked website that's getting traffic line up some amazon products and you'll stat making a it of cas real quick.

 

Choose the best sellers in your preferred niche. If you get the traffic right, conversion rate will be high

If you can sell a lot then the comission adds up. Plus there is a scale at Amazon where if you sell more products in a month, you get more comission overall (e.g. it increases from 6% to 6.5%). MP3s and other cheap products are a good way to get your numbers up.
