It could be. The search quality of Google has been dropping down the tubes over the past year or so. My own high quality sites like http://www.lolcraps.com/ rank near the last page of Google for "craps" and every other search with 0 visitors from Google, yet it is the largest and most informative site on the subject and I get lots of visitors from Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com. Google is getting too "penalty trigger happy" and this is blocking out high quality sites, among other problems. Whatever it is, something was screwed up with it's algorithm over the last year or two and Yahoo seems to be the leader right now in search quality.
I agree, whenever I try searching for something on bing I am reminded of how good the google search engine is, lets face it bing is just no where near googles accuracy.
It's difficult for bing to compete with google. Google is still best search engine but we as a user will happy with bing because Bing Becomes the Main Alternative to Google Search.
I think more and more we will see Big G market share being carved by up lots of others. Facebook , You tube, and Bing. I not sure they will go away but they are starting to lose relevance, all it will take is a couple of mistakes and the will lose some shares.
I think google and bing will both be very big and who knows, bing could be number one. Things can change pretty quickly, just needs some momentum...
I hope Bing will give Google some real competition in the future. Google is too big right now and can do what they want it seems.
Sorry, that's not a valid example. Microsoft guys are out of touch with reality. This is not what I mean but... Just look at that main Bing page. Looks like the first website I saw in 1995 built for an stay at home/hockey mom (maybe they changed it already; haven't checked lately). Who the hell needs to see a view of pretty mountains or a barn house in a nice field with a search box in the middle. Look at Google's interface how simple it is, a search box with powerful results (well not so powerful lately). I'm telling you, Microsoft guys need to hit the streets and talk to people and see what they really need and get a dose of reality. I'm afraid they are relying only on webmasters' feedback and bot research which is dangerous. Their search result pages look like a badly developed PR: N/A link directory charging for links, with a lot of distracting irrelevant information on the side that nobody asked for. I think the only way for Bing to do some damage on Google is by partnering with lady gaga or pantyless Lindsay Lohan. LOL! They also need their own B.S. teller like Matt Cutts to keep the fire alive with the SEOers, Black Haters, webmasters, spammers, marketers, etc. Actually, the latter is powerful. It will get them out of the hole they are in. It is well known that big sites like Myspace, Facebook, etc. got famous thanks to all these "arguably" evil sons of God who fueled their fire. Bing, as it is right now, is too quiet and boring. Google will be replaced by FB' coming engine though. Who wants to bet some serious dough? Pack your lunch!
Heard the same about Mike Tyson before Hollyfield made him his senorita on the ring. Now he is everybody's girl unfortunately. Google's search results are not the same anymore. Infoseek in 1995 used to return better results than Google now. Do a search. Either Walmart, Home Depot, a really high pr site or some Twitter real time crap returns most of the time. Heard it is called Caffeine. Not fully deployed yet though...
Among webmasters and the web savy. If you go out on the streets and start asking people what Google is, most people will not have a clue who that is and guess it to be a Gum brand. LOLl Search youtube for those "on the road" surveys.
I have seen no evidence in my statistics of any browsing changes. Bing is advertising on the TV in the UK so I wonder if this will affect a different generation. My 8 year old son sometimes uses bing but he mainly searches in Google and thinks Google Chrome is the best and fastest browser!
Google has been King for a long time now, change will not happen quickly, but it might still happen...
If Bing give us more opportunity , better service, most powerful search engine then it could be replaced in future. Just now Google is unbeatable.
