I am using this permalink custom structure for my wordpress - /%postname%.html

I have success with it in my blogs but lately on the new wordpress blogs that I have I am having some problems...
Everytime I write a post, it automatically puts number 2 at the end...like it would end up like this

    this-is-my-post-2.html...

I dont have duplicate post title so I dont know why it is doing that..

    please help.

Set to default and than save, after that change and set one more time to your structure and than save!

I use /%category%/%postname%.html on all of my blogs and it does the job.

Have you checked to see first whether you have another blog post with the same title, and secondly, a blog post already published which has the same permalink? I always use /%post_id%/%postname%/ because even if you have a post with the same title, the /%post_id%/ will differentiate them.

Check the Custom Permalink Structure. I believe you have changed it by mistake and added a 2 at end.

    I do the same.
