4 Serious Tips to Earn Fast with AdSense (for beginners to intermediates)

Hello, I want to share tips to earn fast with AdSense. Those tips are especially for beginners just starting.

    What is important with adsense:
    - Traffic (coming from search engines, ie. Google)
    - Good ad placement (to have the best CTR you can)
    - Target non technical audience (because they click more and they are more numerous than technical people)
    - Target non time-related content.

    How to achieve it:
    - For traffic you need to produce content for the masses, that is, children, women, seniors, any non technical person on the internet
    - For ad placement you need to put adsense ads on your site where you would want to have them located if they were your own ads and the site wasn't yours.
    - To target non technical audience, don't talk about computers or internet. no flash games, no desktop wallpapers, no make money online, no forex, etc.
    - Non-time related content means your content is searched for all year round.

Exemple of content for the masses:
    - Take one of my latest sites: http://april-calendar.com
    - Look at the content: all I'm offering is a calendar for one month. I'm doing it by PHP coding, but you could do it by hand with photoshop and it would be exactly the same. Just more work because you would have to produce them, but you want to make money online, right?
    - My audience is not technical, and my content can be used by anybody on the internet, technical or not.

Another example would be card to print for free. Like birthday cards, newborn cards, christmas cards. If your site is about printable cards, then it's non time-related, even if some cards are for christmas only, you can have lots of cards such as birthday and death, retirement, good wishes, heal soon, etc. All year round.

Now if you want to get an idea of the traffic you can generate with this method, you should expect several thousand unique visitors per day, take a look at my open stats tracker for my site on printable calendars: http://extremetracking.com/open;unique?login=worldcal

To give you an idea of the adsense earnings, take a safe scenario: CTR of 5%, CPC of $0.1, that's an eCPM of $5.
So if you have 1,000 ad impressions you will earn $5.
1 unique visitor is likely to visit several pages of your site, so 1,000 unique visitors means more than 1,000 ad impressions.

As for the time it take to get such a site off the ground, expect several weeks/months of light SEO such as posting links on other sites, social bookmarking and asking for link exchanges to other webmasters.

I hope these tips are useful to you, so that you don't waste your time by doing beginners mistakes of chasing high paying keywords and topics for other webmasters/bloggers/computer geeks.

Please feel free to ask questions about this topic, I'll answer them if they are serious and thoughful.

    Cheers,
    James

    Hmmmmmm......

is 5% CTR really realistic? Never went above 2% on any of my sites (and a few of them are non-tech related). They all share the same common design though.

Also, I'd suggest to make use of on-site SEO too. Wouldn't hurt your site either, I see several points to improve on, from meta data to use of H tags and overall keywords density :)

5% is always the CTR I aim for before stopping ad placement optimization. Too much CTR means something is wrong, but if 95% of your visitors don't click an ad it means some of them are actually enjoying the content. Less than 5% and I feel like I'm losing, wasting traffic, since I don't use CPM ads.

Thank you for the SEO suggestions. I know the site I showed as an example is not optimal, partly because it's PHP generated. Webmaster or bloggers (wordpress allows it to be used as a CMS now) can do wonders on a similar topic by writing their own description of each month calendar they produce. They will perform better because the text they will write will be more "human" with spelling mistakes and such expressions, that visitors are also using when querying search engines.

But I'll keep on working on it, I'm creating other projects, but later I'll probably come back to it with a fresh eye and will improve upon.

I have a CTR of 0,32% :( lots of views but no clicks, I have optimized the ad placement a few times placing it in the post, between the posts, next to the posts, above the posts, into the posts and still nothing :(

Hmmmm... I guess I'll need to work more on ads placement, though I honestly do not know what else I can do with them. Even 3% CTR would mean a 50% increase in CTR for me.

BTW, I really like how you included ads "inside" the calendar. This is a really good idea so kudos on that. I'll see if I'll be able to do something similar on my sites since it does compel to click on.

Regarding SEO... PHP scripts are not a problem to optimize too... Specifically check your meta headers, currently they're too long (Google can only read 80 characters at max in meta, so anything above that is overkill and keywords dillution). Also, adding some <h1><h2><h3> and bold/italic/underline tags would greatly help. Furthermore, closing your page with the page meta title (just echo it there) with some bold text applied to it would help greatly.

Also I'll PM you right now with a site you can check to improve your SEO :)

I think it's fine! You already rank in the first page on google for "april calendar"
It's a good idea to have 12 com domains for calendar.. But I think the calendars are very simple.
My advice is try to create beside the simple calendar something more attractive (focus on design, colors, pics, ...), so people can share and print it.
Good luck and thanks for the tips!

Actually I bought 48 domains for 3 years, 12 domains per language, cost was about $1400 but they paid for themselves in the first 3 months, starting from no traffic at all :)

Thank you for the advice regarding adding more interesting content for people to print and share, I'll think about it and will try to do something for next time I'll work on these calendar sites.

At first, when you start, you're on your own, you have to request link exchange from other webmaster, find ways.
But after, when you start having several sites, then you can make use of your own network to link to your new sites and give them a boost (PR and traffic wise)

Honestly PR is not that important, what counts is how much traffic you get and that is reflected by Alexa rank in near real time, PR is only updated months after and gives an indication of how many webpages are linking to you, not that much relevant, but yes it feels good to have a good pr :)

To get links, you should have content that other want to link to, that helps but it is not possible in all occasions. Or you can offer widgets that webmasters can add to their websites/blogs with a link back to your site.

Absolutely! Testing ad positions, text color, and ad sizes are the key to finding your groove.
