Yes, you can use Drupal as a blog also, but WP is better than Drupal for a blogging platform. Here are the drupal resources:

    Drupal Modules:

    Code (markup):
    Drupal Themes:

Wordpress is easier to use, certainly not better. Wordpress places a much higher and more complex load on the server, and has less overall functionality.

I find Drupal an excellent CMS for organizations looking for a community building CMS. I found some very high profile organizations using Drupal, plus I liked the flexibility of categorizing your pages whereever and being able to fine tune the permissions for each role (i.e.: Administrator, Editor, Contributor, Authenticated user, and Anonymous).

Yes, Drupal can work as Blog too. Just enable the blog module. Though you can make Drupal as blog without enabling the blog module ;)

what is the advantage of the blog module if we make only one blog on a drupal install? IS there any interest at all over using pages?

I haven't spent much time with Drupal blogs, but my initial guess would be nothing other than all blog items being attributed to the same user. I think Pages also get full node goodness and blog items don't?
