    What is your website about, and do the ads appeal to your visitor's interests?

    ie. if you have a site about Dogs, but you get ads about cars, your ads aren't targeted.

    So are the ads relevant to your user's interests?

    Oh, I was under the assumption that google automatically chose relevant ads for me. Are there any tutorials on this site that you can point me to that will show me how to target my ads?

    Well google delivers ads based on the content of your website (just like how its search engine works).

    The problem is if you have a lot of stuff going on on your webpage, you're gonna confuse the google crawlers about what your site is about. So lets say you have an article, but its surrounded by a lot of distractions, you might not get the proper ads.

    I suggest if the ads on your site aren't being targeted properly, you need to make use of the "Section-Targeting" snipped of code.

    This is how you do it. These are the section targeting commands to give google you need to place in your site's html code:

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    So to implement it it may look like this:

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    Your Target Content Here

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    So lets say your site is about Dogs, and you have an article about Dogs. Place the article text between these tags like the above example to tell Google this is what you want to target, and the relevent ads should begin to show. It won't happen immediately, but usually within a few hrs/days the right ads will show. Good luck.

    This is very helpful information and I appreciate it greatly but I'm not quite following where to put the target content.

    Does that go within the adsense code or do I add that anywhere in my site html code?

    Edit: nevermind, a simple google search did the trick. Thanks a ton for the info FavorMob Czar!!!

    Well that really depends on how your site is built.

    Basically you want to wrap the code above around the content you wish to focus on.

    The section target code above is SEPARATE from the adsense code. You don't add it to your adsense code.

    So lets say for example your site is a blog. The page html code may look like this:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    <body>
    <html>

    <adsense code> (this is the code you get from google for your ad, you don't edit this)

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    BLOG TEXT

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    </html>
    </body>

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    So the above example would produce a blog with an adsense ad above it. But since you wrapped the blog text with the section targeting command, you will tell Google Crawlers that this is what you want them to focus on. If that doesn't make sense let me know.

    I think ad management is crucial. My traffic is low but I have been lucky to get some clicks that pay not bad. I have been blocking some advertising that does not relate to the particular website. People came to your site for a reason. (Unless your site is very general) I would love to have high traffic and see if I could capitalize on it.

    I have been working on seo every chance I can. I have been looking into site maps as of late. I am not sure if a person should have more than one robot txt installed. Or if they are really needed.

    Why would you need to have more than one robot.txt installed? You don't need more than one. Have you submitted your sitemap to all the other engines like Yahoo and Bing as well as all the smaller ones?

    All the major ones. I am researching how to be seen in any language also. Just having a translator on the page is not good enough. There is millions of users around the world. Even a small percentage of 1% would be great. A lot of my sites are fairly new though.

    It's too conclusive to say that people don't click the ads. Each website publisher has different experiences. Visitors come from a wide variety of interests. I know that if an ad would help a person, he/she will surely click it.

    CTR and quality of how your site looks are indirectly related - unfortunately, the higher the CTR, the worse the page looks, ideally one should look at a good balance of the two - look at a CTR around 2-3% for best results.
