How much usually a fully managed VPS or Dedicated server costs per month with a good host. I am a hosting newbie, so donno anything about server admin. I am using WHMReseller with all pre-made installations / configurations. I need managed VPS or Dedicated server like this for master reselling.
You'll want at least 1gb RAM and a dual/quad core, so around $60 (+ cPanel) for a VPS or $110 (+ cPanel) for a dedicated server.
Atleast 1 GB RAM is must for having smoothly running cPanel. For your need you can have a managed VPS which can cost you around $50-60 per month, a cPanel license ($15 per month), Master Reseller Script ($6 per month), Softaculous or Fantastico ($2 per month), WHMCS ($15.99 per month). However, the advantage of Managed VPS lies only during the time you face any trouble, untill such thing happens you will be wasting money. Most of the stuff you will need is available as tutorials on internet. So if you wish you can try Unmanaged VPS/Dedicated Server, this way you can save a lot of cost.
yes, but if you go for unmanaged then you can get it all for less than $50 per month (including WHMCS monthly license)
a 50 GB Space with 1 GB RAM unmanaged VPS will cost you around $10, cPanel another $15, WHMCS ($15.99 or $13.99 depending from where you are purchasing), Master Reseller Script ($6). So on a total you can get it for around $46 per month but you have to manage it yourself.
Since you didn't know anything about server admin. I suggest you to get a fully managed VPS with cPanel which cost about $39/mo at good hosts.
When choosing a VPS I suggest not going with any plan less then 1gb of RAM. Let's just say lesson learned. I'll give you a hint about good service. Service isn't free. A good managed 1gb RAM VPS is going to cost more than $40/mo, and a Dedicated server more than $150/mo. Anything less and I have to wonder about the hosts ability to remain in business very long... I mean a good server admin is $60k+ a year. How do you pay a few good server admins with hosting rates for dedicated servers below $100 (not possible-- just run the numbers and see how many servers they have to sell a month just to pay their server admins for a given year). Best Wishes, Hackrepair
I suggest you buy reseller hosting first, unless you really need full root access, aince it looks like you're new to managing a VPS/dedicated server. A fully managed VPS w/ cPanel/WHM (can be expensive), or a reseller account with cPanel/WHM (much cheaper) is what you need.
Thanks a lot vinax, mpj, hackrepair $ javajenius. I decided to stick with reseller plan (or master reseller) with a reputed co for few more time, as any good managed vps will cost 3/4 folds more. In fact, i am not clear what will be my requirements as of now.
For 10$ ... more like an OVERSOLD unmanaged VPS. Really, lets be realistic, probably the vps is openvz and hosted on an i7 with 12 gigs of ram and 1tb of HD. These nodes usually cost 180$~~++ per month And if they do sell 1gig RAM - they can probably shove 11 of those VPS's ---> giving them 110$ ... 70$ short! In things like this, i suggest you pay up the extra dollars and be safe then sorry. They always say you get what you pay for for a reason Anyways, i dont force you to do this - but if your looking for more trouble, go for the 10$ one, if you need peace of mind - go for a descent priced one. regards, Ryan
For dedicated server you need at least 1Gb of RAM and nice to have the cPanel (cost extra). I have dedicated from iweb.com for a year now and I'm pretty happy with.
I can honestly recommend you to check out Future Hosting Inc. - i am hosting with them for quite a while now and I can honestly say they are the best host I have ever been on. Please note that WiredTree, Hostican & Lunarpages are not bad hosts and are also "A Graded" hosts but including everything I ever experienced from any host - the value for money and the quality of host as a whole - FutureHosting wins it! Btw they also have Dedicated plans (Full managed, Semi Managed & Unmanaged) and Hybrid (Full managed, Semi Managed & Unmanaged) plans. They also offer a variety of other web related corporate services as well.
It really depends on how many clients you're hosting right now and their usage. For cPanel, it's good to have at least 512MB to be safe. 1GB like others suggested is most viable but if you're not loaded with too many clients yet then you can start with a lower amount and just scale upwards as you require more.
Im paying about 300 per year for a VPS - With Eapps. Ive had zero problems and Eapps has been great for customer support
