    Hi DP-ers,

    What Exactly is SPAM?
What are the Characteristics of SPAM?
What are the Restrictions that a Blog (or Blog Owner) has conducted SPAM activities?
and...,How does Google determine that a Blog (or Blog Owner) has conducted SPAM activities?

Wikipedia said that Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems and bla3...., but it's not a complete answer.

Please share...,it's really confusing. Thanks DP-ers....

Too many keywords in an article with some hyperlinks directing to other sites can also be counted as spam.

    What Exactly is SPAM?
Spamming is anything that confuses the user and that is not of his use, and if anything is deliberately and forcibly been shown to him, so as to generate traffic or diverting attention of the public.

What are the Characteristics of SPAM?
Spamming can be of many times like one we see in emails, when the keywords are stuffed in the website so as to fool the SE crawlers and rank the site good in SERP's, Spamming is anything rubbish posted or mailed to the person without his consent.

What are the Restrictions that a Blog (or Blog Owner) has conducted SPAM activities?
Usually there are softwares or plugins available to avoid spamming, like WordPress provides with the plug-in named as Akismet that filter's the spam comments and provide you with the clean comments.

How does Google determine that a Blog (or Blog Owner) has conducted SPAM activities?
Google has very high sensitive Crawler which detects the excessive use of keywords on a particular page, if the site is doing cloaking or is diverting from the main theme of the page or there are excessive incoming links it's been considered as spam and is reported in the Google checks as suspicious sites.

You can have more detailed knowledge on the topic here on SEO Expert Blog.

    Cheers!!:cool::cool:

Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. Spam costs the sender very little to send -- most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.

What is your purpose by posting such a question here really? Are you just trying to see if you can do spam without get caught? Are you trying to find a loop hole in "exact" SPAM definition and being oversmart? I do saying this because most of webmasters already know the definition of "SPAM" by their own sense and do not have to ask the question for exact definition anyway.

    My own definition

    1. Whatever things you sent over to peoples email without their permission, thus make annoying or not. - SPAM
    2. Whatever things you write / post / comment with useless or garbage message to other peoples website / directory / blog just solely for advertising purpose. - SPAM
    3. Whatever things you already know in your mind that will make people annoying without their permission, regardless to the form and use - SPAM

:) Use your own senses before making or doing "SPAM" things.

It's also a very tasty canned meat, as long as you cook it right. Sometimes if you burn it just a little it will taste better

SPAM, other than the canned meat, is a slang word usually referring to some sort of unwanted advertising.

    1.The Exactly SPAM
Spam, as defined in the context of computers, the Internet and electronic messaging, is a term used to designate unsolicited bulk electronic messaging and communication. In particular, spam is unsolicited bulk mailings that are commercially oriented. It is most commonly used in advertising, but it is also used to perpetrate religious, political or other types of messages. Spam is, often times, considered the electronic equivalent of junk postal mail, telemarketing or broadcast faxing. Spam got its bad name and reputation from the advertisement of ill reputable and questionable products, such as pornography, pyramid schemes, fad products, pump-and-dump stocks, etc.
Spam is delivered via several mediums, to include:
    · E-mail messages
    · Search engines
    · Instant messaging
    · Web blogs

    2.The Characteristics of SPAM
    1. Too large message size: maximum is 2MB.
    2. Image links to remote sites
    3. Numeric IP in URL
    4. URL Redirect to Other Port
    5. URL to .biz or .info Websites
    6. Empty Messages
    7. JavaScript or VBScript in HTML
    8. Frame or IFrame tags in HTML
    9. Object tags in HTML
    10. Embed tags in HTML
    11. Form tags in HTML
    12.Web Bugs in HTML

3.The Restrictions that a Blog (or Blog Owner) has conducted SPAM activities are
Usually there are softwares or plugins available to avoid spamming, like WordPress provides with the plug-in named as Akismet .
